Gobble gobble MF sub 18 is usually all it takes to win, ftw MF gobble gobble MF 🦃🦃🦃
Gobble gobble, prepare for a throttle, I'm coming for your waffle
All of the college guys that had bad regional meets/xc seasons run the local 8k trot on pure hate. As long as I don't do too much carb loading tonight I'm hoping to be age group competitive. If I partake in too much carb loading my B Goal is to avoid chundering at the finish.
people run 8k turkey trots?
The Buffalo, New York trot is 8k and an extremely prestigious and historic race.
"The race proclaims itself to be the oldest continually running public
footrace in North America, having established itself in 1896 and run
every year since, even during World War I, the 1918 flu pandemic, World War II, and the 2020 coronavirus pandemic."
Goal of 30:00 for the 5k. Gel pre in AM then gel 5 minutes pre race. Gel at 10 minutes, 20 minutes and right when I cross the finish line. Dreams of some day breaking 13:00.
Goal: Sub 18 - Embarrass all the college kids - wearing AlphaFlys - Gobble Gobble MF!
always the best thread of the year....
To all Masters Runners desperately hanging on to the dream...Good luck at your Turkey Trots!! - LetsRun.com

Hard to resist the Turkey Trot bait here. I'll be running my 47th in a row Thursday. I won't attempt to describe how these streaks get under one's skin, but they certainly do. I can relate to most of the original poster's observations. I'll add that I run the second, uphill mile 75 seconds slower than the first mile (pitiful, in other words) and that I regularly get passed by h.s. boys wearing grass skirts.
Still, I wouldn't trade this day for any other in the year. I've been running long enough that I've stopped apologizing about it. It's not the only thing that I am, but it's a big part of who I am, and I'm okay with that. I'd rather be slow, graying me than a lot of other people and a lot of other things.
The Why Race? question is interesting. It's not required after all. I can be a runner without being a racer. My wife is always advising me to be "more moderate in all things." And she's smart, this is good advice.
But you know what? A person can get too much of this moderate stuff. Who wants to live a life that's always safe, controlled, aiming for the middle path?
Every once in a while I still want to feel the burn. To push to the limit. To be near collapse when I cross the finish line. Sure, I already know the result: It will be shown that I'm older and slower than I was yesterday and the day before that. I don't need a race to tell me these things.
But a race says I'm not ready to surrender. It says I'm going to keep struggling to squeeze all I can out of this life. It says I'm not checking out of here until I've given it my all. Yes, I know I'm gonna die some day.
But I have a good feeling about tomorrow's race.
I'm gonna take a Maurten energy gel exactly 5 minutes before the start while I warm up (this will be 15 minutes into my 20 minute warm). After 1k, I will take a Spring Energy gel because it's whole food based and easy on my stomach. At 2 k, I will take a Huma energy gel for a chia seed boost. At 3k, I will chug a shot of maple syrup (organic only, no Mrs. Buttersworth this year). At 4k, I will poop. At 5k I will lift my skinny fists in the air and shout a warrior shout like Scott Jurek at the beginning of his races.
I am wearing endorphin speeds for the race. do you think I will be judged at the starting line for no carbon under my feet?
Sub 18 will barely crack the top 40 in my Turkey Trot, and behind the top 2-3 females. Winner will be low 15:XX.
I’m skipping it this year, as I don’t want to race an all out 5K during marathon buildup. I would have done the 10K, but it’s cancelled due to construction on part of the course. I have a 10 miler with 5 at LT pace scheduled.

Sub 18 and hopefully first in full turkey costume 🦃💨
I haven't run in like 3 weeks due to some pregnancy-related groin ligament pain, so my training is already ahead of 80% of the field. I told myself I'd walk it to be safe, but when I hear the start gun, all bets are off. GOBBLE GOBBLE!
Cracking last year’s 15:38 course record and hopefully a new PR sub 15:15. I blew up in last year’s too-aggressive sub 15 attempt, 4:46, 5:01, 5:20. Need to stay cool in mile 1 and keep on the throttle in mile 2. Trust in my training in mile 3 and let it rip. Learned from last year’s mistakes & ready to execute this year. Let’s gobble.
sub-35:00 or bust. I won't share the race distance, but it ain't know wimpy 5K.
15:23 on 30mpw...
Ran my first 10k and got under my goal of 40 minutes, finishing in 39:20 on a hilly course. Unfortunately I was caught in no-man's land between real runners and people with relationships but happy with the outcome
Ended up a couple of seconds over. Didn't realize how close I was. Got hot in the costume lol. First turkey though 🤪
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
