I have no idea what you are talking about. Maybe it was a 1A state race.

Probably the 2008 Drake 3200 then. 2nd place was 9:34, 3rd place was 9:36. Not sure why you’d withhold that info, honestly.
Those times would barely qualify for 4A state now. After the final races are in tomorrow, 9:36 won't even qualify for drake.
For decades, 3:20 would win the 4x4, and a few years ago 3:20 got 7th. The depth is just crazy. The top 3 4x4s (I think in 2017 or 2018) in 4a finals would have won the top class in every state's state meet except 4 states. And it's been like this for 5 or 6 years.
3 day state meet makes everything seem more impressive. Many states have a 1 day meet.

I agree. The meet is laid out well to inspire it's participants with enormous crowds and minimizes prelims to prevent weary legs.
I guess you could say that. It combines all classes and boys and girls which is why it takes so long. three days allows the top runners to do 4 events while many state meets last only hours as opposed to days.
4:24 now but will be even faster after top guys are entered in the mile.

top guys are in elite mile not 1600, will have no effect on the 4:24
Of course it does. If 21st is 4:24 and top 6 guys do mile, then 27th makes it in 1600. Bad policy.

not what he said, And find it hard to believe many will leave 1600 to be in an elite mile that will be 4:0x to compete. Above poster said field will get quicker because of top runners.
True. It was obviously stated backward. But regardless of how many do, 1st place will be nearly 20 seconds slower.so it is a tremendous impact.
And you said no impact.

Still dont see kids switching from 1600 to elite. Dont see many kids bumping into regular 1600 at tonights meets with the wind forcast every where.
Heidesch and Washburn are running the mile. So instead of a 3:59 1600, we will see a 4:19. To say 20 seconds isn't an impact is ridiculous.
1600 is at 9:00 tonight. Wind is gone.
