Not sure how to think about Chelangat for this race, or what to make of her XC season. TSR still has her coming in pretty high at the BU meet and running sub 15:20. I have my doubts that she is in sub 15:20 shape right now based on XC. Thoughts?
She had a great XC season. You are putting way too much stock into one race. Things change weekly. She had a bad race. Stearns ran out of her mind. Tuohy had the race of her life. I wouldn't be surprised to see Chelangat be the top college runner and Tuohy 3rd or 4th.

Not stock in one race. Chelangat did not win a single race all season which is unusual for her. I was concerned she has/had an injury or something

Chelangat ran within 6 seconds of Valby at SEC and beat other SEC runners by a lot so I think if she had a good day at NCAA she would have been 5th at worst. Stearns was as close to Touhy and Chmiel at NCAA as she was at Nuttycombe, so maybe it was her best day, but not a terrible fluke. I had her at 9th I think, but realistically 4th to 8th was about 2 seconds I think so....

I don't think Stearns is a fluke at all. She has shown a lot of consistency this season, and looking foward to see her performance on the track.
So how high do you think Chelangat will be at this meet? If NCAAs was just a bad day I think she could be 2nd or 3rd collegiate, but I also would not be shocked if she was 6th or 7th.
An authoritative win & PB after a disappointing Nats would be a nice reset for McCabe, but Markezich, Maatoug, Bush and Tyynismaa won't make it light work. McCabe and Chelangat face similar questions at present: neither is any worse than last year, but are they being overtaken by a handful of runners in the midst of superior fitness and sparkling form that seems to improve monthly?

Yeah I hope she PB's. I still think she is probably the fav to win this despite nationals. She improved her own time by a lot but it was not enough... but 3k is more her distance.
Tyynismaa, Bush are on upward trajectory and have a lot of speed. I think they can both PB and challenge for the win.
Maatoug is interesting. She has a 2:03 800m, and did really well at cross. I wonder what her 'event' will be.
could be anything - maybe she caught the flu for example - they have several meets scheduled at Arkansas this season in which she can post a fast time.
