They won't be the reason for winning a title next year, but 2 out of the 4 will probably help in 3-4 years. I actually can't think of one freshman woman that's helped to win a title.
Stanford always get's the best class, but then they disappear. Former Stanford athlete N Mareno would have been Stanford's #2 right behind Dudek, if she ran for them this year.
katelyn kelsey sam will be back next season, brooke rauber will be better, quarzo will be better, nc state's freshman grace hartman is fast and was running the same level as brooke rauber, she will also be better.
nc state won at panorama farms despite seymour having off day, katelyn owns the course record there by 40 seconds on a tempo day with kelsey who finished 2nd
nc state line up next year will be stronger
1 tuohy
2 chmiel
3 bush
4 rauber
5 graduate transfer
6 quarzo
7 hartman
if a miracle is answered and starliper is not injured, is healthy and running then that 3-peat is sure is secured
if they win the title 3 to 4 years from now its more likely to be because of some transfers who we dont even know about yet than class of 23 kids. as for Stanford, yes they have had some performance issues in the past. But Mareno was class of 2017 remember. that was a while ago. lets see how these most recent two classes come along. they seem to be solid so far. Dudek an All American and Stewart Pac-12 Freshman of the year from the most recent class. and anyway, most of the Stanford hype recently has been because of their middle distance recruits more than anything. if they dont dominate the 800/1500 over the next few seasons you can be disappointed. especially since they have even more md talent coming in for 2023.

What about Seymour? She had a tough season but they may be able to figure it out
Mariah Howlett is one more returner for NC State that could factor in next year. She has one more year of XC eligibility remaining, and was basically their 8th runner this year. She made a post on IG yesterday congratulating her teammates, but talking about how she was disappointed in her performance this year. Hopefully, she can do something similar to what Mareno did this year, and just improve her performance a little bit in her last year of XC, and break into that top 7, and potentially even a top 4 or 5 of the caliber needed to win at nationals.
I think Grace Hartman is gonna be a key player next year. She beat Brooke Nevada and Gionna at the adidas xc meet unattached and one the Joe Piane B 5k, running faster than Brooke and Nevada there as well.
Give her a year to develop, like they did with Brooke, and she could be the replacement for Nevada/Sydney. Olivia Haas was also fairly close to this group unattached at adidas
So stick grace and Marlee in the lineup, plus another year of training for Rauber and Quarzo, and they’ve got a winning team.

Yeah, I agree on Hartman. She looks like she's going to be a good one. I was concerned about Rauber early in the year, wondering if she'd ever make that "jump" up in performance. But she broke out in a big way at the ACCs, and now it looks like she'll only continue to get better. Right now I'd project their top 5 next fall to be: Tuohy, Chmiel, Bush, Rauber, and Hartman. Then you'd have Quarzo and Howlett at 6 and 7, for quality depth. And of course you have Marlee Starliper being the wild card, and if she's healthy that shakes things up for the better.
I think it is worth noting that if Quarzo was the 5th scorer they still would have won. It is a strong team!
Is that correct? I know Syd's placement was good enough, but I thought Quarzo was just outside...maybe that was in the overall placement though (no excluding non-team runners)
Quarzo was 98th vs 74 for Rauber so it would have just been good enough (w/o Rauber/Seymour she would have been 96th and team would have gone up by 22 to 136) NM were all in ahead so their 140 would not change.

Ah yeah...I was looking at the overall placement, not team placement. Thanks.
Great race and a strong field of runners. A reporter mentioned to Tuohy the course record was around 20 minutes and she beat it by 30 seconds. If that's true there was quite a few women under the course record. It may have been 19 women under. They certainly came to race.
