Gut feeling is that it was someone they knew and had access to the house normally.
I agree. The person almost had to have been in the house previously. You need to know the "lay of the land" when walking around a house in the dark. You can't just turn the lights on. In a dark unfamiliar room, the killer would have likely walked into furniture or tripped on something and may have made enough noise to alert the occupants.

The house was a party house and many college kids apparently knew the door code, and many more would have been in the house at some point, but hardly close to or even known directly by the housemates.
As people are saying on Reddit, "cleared" is not a term used by LE. The speculation is that the LE are playing that he's not a suspect as to prevent him from running. And I feel uncomfortable posting this, but Reddit indicates through digging through the family social media that he's adopted (adopted when the biological kids were in high school) and that the parents are quite religious and go on missionary trips. Nothing implied from my end...just relaying. And yes, the family hunts, and hoodie guy has been shown harvesting an elk. The processing photos were quite....unnecessary.
We must also keep in mind that Reddit is full of jobless crazy websleuths severely afflicted by Dunning Kruger syndrome.
Redditt seems to know a lot more than the Idaho cops.
We all know who it is, and we are just waiting for the cops to admit they are incompetent.
Letsrun ran so Reddit could walk, or however that saying goes. Sure there are lots of rumors out there, but many cases have been solved with the help of the internet. Ever seen Don't F*ck With Cats?
Have the police come out and said that or used terminology such as "not a suspect or person of interest" sometimes followed by "at this time"? That is not clearing at all.
Rare to hear policy publicly say a person has been "cleared".
Ex boyfriend/girlfriend? Some random dude from food truck?, Drug deal gone wrong or drug debt not paid? Someone like the Virginia FB player who the girls picked on?
Ex’es don’t kill four people in a cold calculated manner. Drug deal debt seems unlikely because killing is not going to get the dealer their money, and even if so, it makes more sense to kill one to shock the others into paying up.
Sweet! Everyone loves internet 'sleuths,' especially ones on LetsRun. Be sure to contact the proper authorities about your theories with your no research or journalistic integrity.... I'm sure they will be impressed with someone on LetsRun who can screw up one the LRC prediction contests.....keep it up!

I think they said "cleared." He might have an air-tight alibi. Hypothetical: He might be a student at nearby Washington State and was just in town visiting a friend. He may have left Moscow after being seen at the food truck, went back to Pullman, and used his credit card to get gas on the way. Then he gets something to eat at an all-night IHOP during the hours of the crime (3:00 - 4:00 am). He is seen on cameras at the restaurant, and he uses his credit card to pay. That would be a legitimate alibi that could "clear" him rather than just make him "not a suspect." If he is proven to be in Pullman when the murders occurred, he obviously could not have done it.

Right. They said they are not considering him a suspect at this time. It could easily be that they ARE considering him a suspect and just collecting evidence and watching him because they don't feel like they have enough at this time to hold him in jail. If it was him, it would fit REALLY well, like everything across the board. There's more info on Reddit, but he had motives against both Kaylee and Maddie and Ethan.
Obviously not a great thing to say here too, but adopted kids often have severe issues. It's not necessarily their fault, just a reality (and many are fine too). I have not seen the photos myself, but a word used to describe the animals in his hunting pics was "mutilated." A lot of people have been surprisingly reasonable discussing this case, so I tend to think the majority of folks can distinguish between a regular hunting pic and one where the animal was "mutilated" or anything resembling that.
I also think it's worth mentioning that the fact lots of people had the code is a little bit of a moot point. They shared the code with friends. These are all Greek lifers, and the Greek life culture here is actually pretty good. The type of person who would do this is not consistent with the type of person who is accepted into a frat and is a normal, social person with friends around them. There would have absolutely been signs other Greek dudes would have picked up on indicating a bad apple, which is actually what happened to Food Truck guy; he got kicked out of the frat for stalking behavior (allegedly).
