I wrote “bunhuggers” the other day, and it was allowed to stay. I like your scientific quest to find the rules behind what gets deleted and what is allowed to stay, but I theorize that you will find that there are no such standards. I believe the mods have broad latitude to delete whatever they feel like.
I looked at photos from 2018 when the weather was about the same but the ground was snow covered which made it seem even more winter like. Nearly all of the top women wore bun huggers and a singlet and gloves.
Was the temperature or the snow more to blame for Al Sal’s famous upset of Rono?
Neither temp or snow factored in Rono's performance that day. WSU as a team intentionally tanked. I ran by Rono in the first half mile and he was just jogging.
BTW, Rono won in Spokane the year before. Temp at race time was 7. Spectators were standing on one of the ponds adjacent to the course.
10 mph is really nothing for wind. 30ft is the standard measured ht and at running level it is about half that. 16 mph, like the previous race there, and you will start feel something.
WSW is listed as the direction last time, but I think it was more southern than that (at least during the race), which put it into the runner faces for the entire 1k section from the lowest part to the highest part of the course, where the carnage, at least in the women's race, took place. The course is mostly north-south so if it is really from the west at 10, that should not be a factor.
With little wind and a lot of sun the forecast temp isn't too bad. If the race wasn't at 9am (why?), weather would be perfect.
Brisk weather predictions for the national meet will have major implications on the race. An alleged lack of b*nh*ggers worn by favorites for the meet will unfortunately decrease volume of cheers for NC State, leaving the field much more wide open than it would be otherwise. OK State runner Alex Maier will be wearing b*nh*ggers, will this be enough for him to claim victory on his home course?
I've seen complaints about that but this is a good 5hing. The best athletes don't just face their competition, they gave the elements and course as well. That's why the only football that really matters is when it is cold and windy.
In response to many posts, I agree that I overplayed the wind impact though I'm surprised how many of you act like "feels like 22 degrees" is nothing unusual. Guess I need to race XC in the Midwest or Northeast once in my life to see for myself! =)

Curios to know the story about WSU as a team intentionally tanking and why.
