They only return their 1,3, and 4 from the state meet but Xu had some off races at the end of the season.
They also return a 16:15, a 16:29, a 16:34 and a 16:52 (younger Xu).
Watch out for Mas Jackson. They return everybody. Their big 4-5 gap was due to their #3 missing

Can the school with 4000 kids and 100 guys on the team with a good coach repeat? Yeah, I’m going to say probably so. It’s actually sad if they don’t win every year given their resources.

What really is sad is that their #1 nonsenior from last year got hurt and is now midpack JV, their #1 was their 5th at NXR and Xu started better than he finished.
If none of this happened they would have challenged for 3rd and made a case for an at-large. Or maybe even gotten top 2

Boys XC State Champs: 2008, 2014, 2021 & 2022 Runner-up: 2012, 2015, 2019 Girls XC State Champs: 2012, 2013 & 2022 Runner-up: 2010 and 2014
They got 10th in 2020, but Lakota West, the senior-full team that won it after being average the year before, was the best in the MW and one of the best in the country

Mason won the last 2 years with only 6 finishers at State. Their JV has plenty of talent and they have the largest pool of athletes to pick from in the state with a community that is invested in running and a good coach. Any year they aren't one of the top teams is simply an an outlier.
Massillon Jackson is like a smaller (but still big) version of Mason in Northeast Ohio with a lot of success of their own. Next year could be their year.

Lancaster could have won this if their 4-5 guys did better. They had 2 pairs of siblings on varsity. a set of triplets and a set of twins. They also had a junior run in the NXR championship race in his only race of the season. Must have been hurt this fall
Lancaster hasn’t won state since the 90s so they probably felt pressure
Mas Jackson could feel that too next year and become victims of that
