This round-robin business in international tournaments is just to weed out the teams that didn't belong there. Tennis tournaments are the same way, a few great players waiting for dozens of crappy players to be shown the door.
Want a good tournament? One elimination round, 8 teams, random draw.
There's only 3 round-robin games and is being reduced to 2 in 2028. What you're suggesting is just skipping to the quarter-finals. Why not just watch from the QFs onwards if that's what you want?
If he didn't even know about Saudi Arabia beating Argentina it's obvious he doesn't even watch soccer. It was only the biggest upset in Copa Mundial history. Almost like the 60th ranked high school team beating Newbury.

And now it’s hard not to suspect collision or fraud with the news of Messi signing a $30mill/year deal with the Saudi tourist board. He has completely wrecked a mainly positive reputation right at the end of his career. Anyone that respects that man now is clueless.

Yes, I don't like this Saudi agenda of buying athletes like the LIV tour nor the athletes accepting the money but it's not conclusive this match was fixed. For one, Messi scored the goal for Argentina and they outshot the Saudis 15-3. The Saudi goalkeeper made some unbelievable saves that simply couldn't have been staged. Plus the likelihood Argentina will still advance to the round of 16.
Did Richarlson pop that ball up on purpose, or was it a poor first touch that he made the best of?
We'll see that goal for awhile.
I think the pace of the ball fooled him. He just meant to stop it but it shot up off his foot and over his shoulder and he made the only play he had. Unbelievable goal.

I respect the hell out of Messi. He’s possibly the greatest to ever do it and I hate Argentina’s piss poor management.
Saudis winning is why the Cup is great. Italy didn’t even make it. Crazy things can and will happen.

Wait so you’re saying you support this man that is taking tens of millions directly from a country that kills journalists? Did you also know this deal includes Messi actively helping Saudi Arabia bid for the 2030 World Cup? You know who else is bidding for that Cup? Argentina. The guy is a complete sellout and deserves no fanfare.

This is what many Americans (or others not appreciating soccer/football) don't seem to get. Because there are so few goals, upsets against favorites are more likely than in almost any other popular team sport. And that's why even 0-0 ties can be quite exciting matches (I didn't see that one, though).
Jack Grealish also scored. He's eligible to play for Ireland through a parent and actually played for the Ireland youth team when he was younger.
Strangely, he doesn't appear on your list of "wink wink not-really-english nudge nudge" England players. Funny that you only cast doubt on the allegiance of the four black goalscorers and not the one who literally played for another country.

So don’t cheer for him. I and millions of others will.
