You'll have to specify whether the person was born with testicles or a cervix.
Frankly, theres no reason why they should be getting a prize given there are biological men and women that ran faster today.
Or can we introduce any category we want such as "people above 6ft tall" and give them $5K if they are the first amongst that group? Of course then we'll need a prize of $5k for "people under 6ft tall" And then a third one for "people who identify as being 6ft tall" And a 4th for "those who identify as under 6ft" etc etc etc
If you are a person who isn't happy in their gender. Go ahead and transition to whatever acronym you want. Love who you want, and wear whatever clothes you want.
But when we start making exceptions for those people, and give them special treatment (prizes) at the expense of those who dont transition to some other way of life. Thats where I get annoyed!
Always remember. "You are not special. You're not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else. We're all part of the same compost heap. We're all singing, all dancing crap of the world.”

So heres the problem that seems to affect nearly every "person born with testicles" that transitions to "non binary"
They ALL were decent level athletes in mens sports, but never champions, which coincidentally made them transition and beat biological females. It makes the whole transition look like it was just so they could win a title. Its not because they were genuinely unhappy or because they loved same sex individuals or whatever. Its just profiteering
There was a person interviewed on NBC prior to Chicago marathon that actually let it slip that they were looking forward to winning the NB category. (against all of 6 other entrants!)
See also "Rachel McKinnon" A Canadian who won the Age Group World Track cycling Championship after transitioning to legal female. Multiple times against biological women and claimed that those who found it distasteful were just bigotted
I'm yet to see a decent athlete "born with a cervix" go through transitioning to a male just to win the NB title...
Net uphill course but wowwwwww... some local elites really left some money on the table not showing up to this race. Whats going on with the WSX? In the past they would have dominated a race like this, and right now they aren...
If you can win this category with this kind of time, and this category is going to become a "thing" at many races, then becoming a semi-professional non-binary runner is going to make it worth it for someone to simply decide to declare non-binary status and get after it.
This is particularly true if 10K races add money, so they can race more often.
Serious question: We know that standards can be put into place for racing as a trans athlete, but who is going to create a standard and govern it in any way to be non-binary?
There are no requirements for undergoing any hormone therapy, right? I mean, they are not trans, after all.
It takes no creative thinking at all to see a storm brewing.
Wish they would do this for barefoot runners. It actually is more difficult, and it requires a lot of training and dedication. And it is actually relevant to the sport in a way that isn't superficial.
When I checked the The NY Road Runners website earlier, it said that the second, third, fourth and fifth place prize winners in the non-binary category are Zackary Harris, Alexander Edgemon, Kosta Kleyman and Christopher Di Nisio.
AFAICT, these are all young white males who look like bog standard white males of their age. All (most?) of them seem to be American or US-based from very privileged backgrounds who've gone to elite US universities too. Meaning the category sure doesn't reflect the genuine diversity of an international athletics event where competitors are of both sexes and come from 91 different countries, and black African males are known to excel.
Weirdly, when I went back to see the page on the NYRR site listing the non-binary finishers and their times just now, I couldn't find it.
But when I saw them earlier, the non-binary results made it crystal clear that no matter what the intent behind creating the new category was, in practice it does what so many people predicted: it unfairly "privileges," advantages and gives extra, special chances to win to mid-pack males, and only to males. Moreover, it specifically prioritizes, benefits and valorizes males who are white, well-off, from the USA/the Anglophone world with elite educations who believe in gender identity ideology over less fortunate males of different skin tones, ethnicities and belief systems from places like Africa.
So instead of fostering true "diversity and inclusion" and fair play for all, the new non-binary category actually makes the NYC Marathon sexist, male supremacist, elitist, racist, US-centric and biased in favor of one particular belief system.

Soon the wokes will complain originally testicle carrying non-binaries have unfair advantage over those who had none. Then there will be 2 non-binary categories. We're living in a rainbow fairy tale world.

AFAICT, all of the top finishers in the non-binary category who will be taking home prize money were born with testicles and they still have them. To me, they all look like bog standard blokes who are physically undistinguishable from a zillion other ordinary fellas seen out and about all over.
Maybe they'd stand out in a place like Amish country, some small very provincial rural towns in the south, or in parts of Asia, Africa and the Arab and Muslim world. But in most of the USA and the rest of the world today too, I don't think anyone would look at any of these chaps and think they are in any way exceptional or different to other white American blokes commonly seen in entertainment and news media.

I keep half thinking that they are trolls from LRC who entered the non-binary category to make a point and take the money. If that is the case, all the power to them.
While for me personally the social blowback of signing up as non-binary for the prize money and to prove a point about its ridiculousness. Fact is I could be $10k richer right now because I could have easily beaten Jacob Caswell in the BK Marathon and NYC Marathon.
