I think they ran pretty good! I don't know what all the hate is about? I didn't realize their first 2 runners were better Bobby Beck according to Mile Splits list and a few others. They have a 5k state list too. I will try and find it. Very nice race for the whole team today! I am excited to see what they run in 2023.
I don't think you realize how fast 4:04 and 8:46 are. Those aren't just fast times, those are times that generally require a perfect storm of events to take place. I will never say these kids can't do it, but to pencil them in is not fair to them. The training required to chase those types of times also can put their health in jeopardy. Even Alan Webb got inured junior year trying to chase those types of times and that dude was a tank.
Nope! They ran about 9 flat last year and they're running much faster now. I definitely feel the # 1,2, or 3 runners from Jesuit will be under that time in the Spring. They're certainly are the best runners the state or Louisiana has seen. Also this team is without a doubt the best. I don't think anyone is going to say different about that. No way! They have grown so much as runners since the Spring and a year ago they ran 9 flat or there about. Yeah, they will definitely go under that time. Only 10 to 15 seconds for a kid in a year? Definitely! ...... This team is definitely making running exciting again in the state of Louisiana..... They put Louisiana on the national map for once.
These guys finished behind a bunch of guys who ran 9:30 last year... going backwards. Can't wait to hear all the excuses from Speedy family today!!! All those pipe dream times you are spitting out are exactly that... a pipe dream until they actually run them.
You don't get beat by a bunch of guys at the D2 high school nationals in XC and then go out and runn 8:30 and sub 4:00 the following spring. Those times are reserved for guys who win nationals like Nico Young, Cole Sprout, Colin Sahlman, etc. Back to the the drawing board Blue Jays... gotta actually get it done when it counts, not at City Park.
OVERRATED!!! Good thing they didn't go to NXN... what an embarrassment that would have been.

It's not hate bro... it's not directed at the kids...it's directed at you. it's the fact that you run your mouth and throw stuff out like these guys are the best that have ever come out of LA and the are the best team in the country and they can run sub 14:00 right now if asked, and they will run 8:30 and sub 4:00. Keep your mouth shut until that actually happens. Stop comparing XC time across years. If you want to do that, let's point out the fact that Jesuit's #1 guy today ran almost 90 seconds slower than then winner last year (by the way, who actually ran sub 4:00, close to 8:30, and sub 13:50 like you said at least 2 of these Jesuits guys would). How can you think that they are the best team in the country when they finish outside of the top 3 at the Plan B nationals?
The fact is, yes, Jesuit is finally changing the culture associated with Louisiana distance running. Yes, they have a group of talented kids that are running between 9:05 and 9:20. Yes, they are young and if they can stay healthy and continue to progress, they may compete among the nation's best next year. Just let it happen man. Stop making it more than it is. Stop projecting. Stop telling us what is going to happen before it happens. Kudos to the kids at Jesuit for putting together a great season. Looking forward to their future... but I have a huge suspicion it won't include times like 8:30, sub 4:00, and sub 14:00.

They still ran the 2nd fastest times in Louisiana history. All those guys ran on the same courses over the years, except in the mid 70s when they actually ran some on the road. According to Mile Splits they are the 2nd fastest in Louisiana history. I really feel you're holding on to performances from decades ago for some reason. Time moves on and people get faster. I am just saying that they do have the 2nd fastest time in Louisiana history, only behind the kid who ran for LSU in 2016. This is a fact as Mile Splits just put out the list yesterday. If they ran 9:05 last year they should be much faster based off the way they are running now.

One more thing. You do know that their top runner fell didn't finish and it was a mud pit. They still are the 2nd fastest in Louisiana history.

MileSplit started in 2000 (occasionally, they'll add some historical times if the state admin has access to verified times and inputs them into the system). There are boatloads of times that occurred prior to 2000 that are not in the system. Additionally, Louisiana only kept track of marks that happened at the state meet prior to 1998. Mike Morin actually ran sub 14:00 for 3miles in Alexandria his senior year but only has a paper copy of the results. Mike also broke 9:00 in HS, but again, LA Milesplit historical only has what he ran at the state meet in the system. Sure, these kids may be top 10 in LA history, but you are making it out like they are better historically than they are AND you are spouting future times that are just simply ridiculous. Finally, the fact that you are latching on to XC times show your lack of knowledge about the sport. XC times don't matter, period. Courses vary, conditions vary, lengths vary. Everything but weather remains constant on the track.

2nd fastest team in LA history isn't saying much... 2nd fastest individual is something completely different.

Mike Morin was possible the best 1,500 meter runner to come out of Louisiana. Definitely the best High school miler/ 1,600 meter runner Mike ran in 1990. I am just saying they are second on the list. Fact and l don't remember, not being funny if Mike went under 9 in the 3,200? He mostly did the 1,600. It would not be out of reach also for them to run 8:40 this Spring, from a 9:05 last year. Definitely not!
Now that is a great coach. This coach and his group of runners are making a lot of Louisiana running fans proud. I see good things coming from this team. Track and cross country!

Not denying that Mike Morin was a great runner but could you show me what page of the Louisiana High School record book that he is listed in ?
The DesRoaches kid has the 2nd fast 3mile in Louisiana history only behind Eric Coston who ran for LSU in 2016 another Jesuit runner is 5th on the list. This is a list of every year since the 1970, so this kid is the 2nd fastest cross country runner in Louisiana history according to Mile Splits. The list includes Coston at 14:25 2016 St Pauls/ DesRoaches 14:29 2022/ Keith Devine John Curtis New Orleans 2015 14:30/ Bob Beck Salmen 1975 14:30/ Brady Mullen 14:36 Jesuit 2022. Pretty impressive. I can't wait to see how they do today.
OVERRATED!!! Good thing they didn't go to NXN... what an embarrassment that would have been.
They couldn't decide to go to NXN, they would have had to qualify, which would have been unlikely. They could have gone to NXR, but when they weren't Top 2, they wouldn't have made NXN anyway. And all the self-hype in the world wouldn't have gotten them a Wild Card over legit top National teams.

I realize most of the hate directed at this team is due to one super fan (or super troll??) making ridiculous claims and rubbing a lot of people the wrong way. However, some of you are acting like this team accomplished nothing all year to deserve any of this attention so let's look at their season and the future NXN teams they competed against
The Southern Showcase 9/17
Jesuit - 70pts; team avg 15:23
Farragut - 150pts; team avg 15:41
Belen Jesuit - 154pts; team avg 15:44
Nike XC Town Twilight 10/1
Jesuit 97pts; team avg 15:22
Plainfield South 140pts; 15:31
Hinsdale Central 268pts; 15:48avg (would average 15:23 later at the same course for NXR)
Twice in the last 5 weeks perfect scored a Brother Martin team who raced against Belen at FSU on 10/8. For reference, Brother Martin's #1 beat Belen's #2.
The above NXN qualifiers finishes at NXN
Hinsdale - 8th
Farragut (West Knoxville) - 9th
Plainfield South - 13th
Belen (Miami Havana) - 14th
Did they sh*t the bed at Runninglane? Absolutely. Their #1 guy DNF'ed, not many teams can absorb that kind of loss. Even without him they didn't run well and definitely didn't run like a top team in the country. Maybe it was just a bad day, maybe it was something else, but no one can say they didn't have results on the season to merit a high national ranking. At least maybe the super fan will be quiet for awhile.
