I'm guessing SJS only protects you the year after you won? Otherwise you get the alternative of D1 being bloated with small schools who won the division years ago but shouldn't be in D1 size wise anymore
If you are in SJS you can't get dropped if you win your Section. So another factor beyond enrollment.

We will see with Jesuit SJS this year. The got second in Sections for the first time in a long time.
SF and Oakland shouldn't exist as sections, end of story.
Let me add some fuel to this fire
SF section gets one wrestler per weight class into the state wrestling tournament every year. Not only has a SF section wrestler never won a state title, a SF Section wrestler has never even won one match at the state tournament.
Put the 3200 as first event. Its WAY too hot in the afternoon for 8 laps and wind. Totally, totally thoughtless. Move the sprints that could actually benefit from the heat later instead of the first event of the day. Honestly, how dumb do you have to be to put the longest event at the hottest time of the day?

The standard California track schedule sucks. There are a few issues with it. What about something like:
Leaves recovery time for most of the standard event combinations.
Also, all of the discussion about enrollment inequality numbers for divisions is literally just driven by Southern Section existing. Split SS into multiple (probably just two) sections, and combine San Francisco into CCS and Oakland into NCS while we are at it. Problem solved. Doing so would also mean the XC state meet could be moved up a week earlier so it isn't as late or on thanksgiving because SS wouldn't need to do XC prelims for their divisions.
Utah already had theirs! Ours is a full month later. I get it that these other States need to have it before it gets snowed out but CA could get on board and get aligned. Yes Thanksgiving would be a nice weekend to have off.
