I’m going o be honest, I could give less of a thought about Newbury Parks 7th guy. How do you guys have the time to care about this. Isn’t he running 16:30s?
How many teams in the country have a number 1 runner that could make it into Newbury Parks top 5?
I am actually looking for real answers to this question, not goofy(and salty) stuff like “a lot” or “more than you think”.
I want to know how many teams best guy could be a varsity scorer on the best team in the country if they could spontaneously transfer right now.

Well, just at Clovis, there were 17 teams in just their race that had someone ahead of NP’s number 5. The number of teams is much, much higher than that.
But the same people couldn't be bothered to wonder what Jesuit LA's 4th runner ate for breakfast, or how Mountain Vista's freshmen train, or how Mountain View's last three big workouts set them up to win state.
The focus is on all the details of one and only one team when there's so much to learn by MANY of the top schools - and last year, NOBODY cared about anything related to teams not named Newbury Park. It didn't make any sense then, and it makes no sense now.

Don’t forget junior Spaulding from NP. She was their 6th last year. Hasn’t been running in a while but she is workin on getting herself back in shape now. Lots of time to get back up next year

Not sure who’s parent you are at NP, but you’re delusional. Replacing Hawkins with Spaulding makes them quite a bit worse. You are missing quite a few teams that will be better. Hope you and your daughter have had a great time, but the ride is over.
Both boys and girls teams will be solid in their county, but not major players at the state level. Not hating on them at all. It was a once in a life time run that was fun to watch, but their relevance is over after this year.

Well in CA alone there are probably 80-100 teams that have a guy that could make there top 5. At Clovis alone there were 17 teams. Nation wide probably 3-4 thousand teams. That's not including teams that have more than one runner that could make their top five.
