Emily Sisson ran 2:18:29 to shatter the American record in the marathon as Conner Mantz debuted in 2:08:16Full coverage of the 2022 Bank of America Chicago M...
The whole broadcast was a disgrace. They missed every significant move in both the races, opting for interviewing everyone in sight as well as 47 wheelchair placers.
Unf*cking believable. It's not like it was a secret she was going for the record. An absolute embarrassment of a broadcast
Emily- “I never saw a vehicle or camera so I was like I must not be on AR pace. I figured they would show it if I was”…. You would think Emily. You would think. F*ing pathetic performance by entire broadcast team today. All should be fired. Very happy for sisson. She’s very easy to root for. Just wish I got to actually see more that a few mins of her performance. I’ll forever hate wheelchairs
She's barking on US distance GOAT. Definitely needs a more complete marathon career, but she's already finish top 10 in the world in the 10k three times ('17, '19, '21) which is nothing to slouch at. No 10k AR and medal or WMM win like Flanagan, but the 2 AR's are a huge plus, and she'll eventually crush her own half AR. I'm hoping the olympic marathon trials was more a fluke than her just being that bad at hills. I don't want to overhype too early, but she could become a legit podium contender across the board, the next hope.
Good! The record no longer belongs to the most obvious doper in women's marathoning.
It’s fair enough to have some suspicion but throwing around baseless accusations is BS… sorry, but based on the history of the sport and the extremely high level of performance of any of these athletes, everyone is either innocent until busted or they’re all presumably dirty. I don’t see how there is a middle ground.
ok… let’s assume Kiera is dirty… how can you be so sure Emily is clean?
same with Aaron Judge and the “real” home run record… people are trying to tell me that a guy performing at that level in a contract year is undoubtedly clean?
like I said, there are really 3 options If you want to follow any sport these days:
1. Be blissfully ignorant and assume everyone who doesn’t get popped is clean.
2. Presume they are mostly dirty, but be morally ambiguous and just enjoy the show.
3. presume they are dirty and be perpetually jaded and disgruntled as you complain about the good old days (which spoiled… didn’t really exist)
I'm making no assumptions of Kiera, but I can tell you that I know that Sisson is 100% clean as is Huddle. I personally know first-hand that Ray is absolutely committed to his athletes competing clean.
We can all celebrate this great achievement today knowing that there is nothing but hard work from Sisson and all that support her that produced it.

This. Ray Treacy is nothing if not a coach with integrity. He expects the same from the athletes he coaches.
She had the USA high school 5k record and NCAA indoor 5k record. She has the Olympic Trials 10k record too. 9:53 in high school.
watching her run World U20/Jnrs a number of years ago (heel striker), you could see then that she had the makings of a marathon runner. Coming up through the ranks on the track (5k/10k) makes it even more legitimate to me.
Those Africans who seemingly have never run a track race in their life, before taking to the roads at a high level, are suspicious to me, unfortunately - although until they are caught they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
Wish that an American race on American soil televised by an American company could have shown a bit more of an American woman running a fast time which turned out to be an American record!
Some aerial footage of her from time to time and then maybe 3 minutes or so at the end is ridiculous…
The Tour de France is constantly going back and forth showing the lead pack, the peloton, favorites, crashes, etc. In this day and age, ESPECIALLY when going in they KNEW that this was going to be possible, they should have covered a lot of her throughout the morning.
The Chicago Marathon has never had the best race coverage. They spend way, way too much time covering the LGBTQxyz cheerleaders on the Gay part of the race course.

I was just gonna say. Then there's Joan Benoit and others in line ahead of Sisson. Still, it was a great performance. But GOAT? Heavens NO. Maybe someday.
She’s only run in one Olympics, and got lapped in that one. Slow down Sparky.
Yes but she was injured and did not run at all for four months after the Olympics. Emma needs to start training like Emily. Emma never runs in warm weather while Emily grinds out mile after mile in AZ and RI. I was out riding my bike and Emily was on a Scottsdale canal running 16 miles in 103 degrees.
