Is that right? Thought I just heard Ed E. say 5:15.
Timing site said 5:41 then 4:31 for miles 15 and 16 for Chepngetich. Let's split the difference and call them both 5:06. Doesn't seem like she's slowing much yet.
Another case of KM39/40 in Berlin with ridiculous splits ?
Ok Marcel ? How "tough" is it to be doing each race with practically zero competition ?
Shoot I thought we were done with the wheelchair stuff but now we have the winner interview and a replay of the finish (which can be done as audio-only or even picture-in-picture but is of course being shown full screen). Argh.
I just watched the Ironman World Championship coverage for Men(Saturday) and Women(Thursday)both amazing races with very compelling coverage. This coverage is so so bad in comparison that it's literally jarring.
Sh*t I thought we were done with the wheelchair stuff but now we have the winner interview and a replay of the finish (which can be done as audio-only or even picture-in-picture but is of course being shown full screen). Argh.
The commentators can't seriously believe that more than 1% of their viewers are interested in the wheelchair stuff ? Whose pushing for this ? Some explanations are in order !
Anybody know how the non binary wheelchair race is going?
Hug looks like he has a new wheelchair. tEcHnOloGiCal dOpInG
Actually though. I've seen the wheelchair races at HS state meets and it is ridiculous. Some kids are literally in the same chair they roll around in all day while others have a fancy custom made racer and have a speedsuit & speedhelmet on.
My wife (non runner but a big sports fan) just started watching.
Her comments. "Wow what race is htis. Chicago. Oh that looks great."
After watching a few minutes, "Why are the showing the race cars (wheelchairs)? Aren't their lots of people running?
After watching a few more minutes, "Are they just interviewing random people on the street?"
A few more minutes, "Are all of the people in the lead pack East Africans (and then she used to this to teach my 4 year a geography lesson and my son now knows it's a long way away and it's a big island called a continent)?"
I never realized just how awful the coverage is for this Marathon for people that want to watch the athletic competition. Why do they do this? Is it an attempt to entertain people that have no interest in running?
