Man, I'd love for Bekele to win. He's looking alright, but we're barely into the race. Hopefully he can pull of a Berlin 2019-esque win.

He really is. As lean as I’ve seen him look in a long time.
We're off

Anybody know what pace the pacers have been instructed to go out in?
First mile in 4:47
That's 2h5m pace
but 1 mile in he already doesn't look smooth. Would love to be proven wrong an hour later though.
61:45 pace... course record will be safe
Pacers keep looking back. Also 2 white pacers! They couldn't get enough Kenyan or Ethiopian pacers?
Bekele looking at his watch a couple times. Doesn't look like he's wearing the same shoes as Kipchoge in Berlin. Different color anyway.
Women's down to 1 pacer

Bekele prefers Vaporfly over Alphafly.

Each 5k split for the women has gotten slower. 16:01, then 16:17, and now 16:33. They're 48:51 at 15k, which means they're now on 2:17:25 pace slower than women's-only WR pace.
The Kenyan pacer, Beatrice Mutai, was struggling and has already dropped out. The other pacer, Gete Alemayehu, is still there but obviously she's slowing.
Yehualaw has been right on the pacers the entire time and looks full of run, but the lead group is still 8 women.
Men are 14:42 at 5k. It's the six 2:03 men plus Ethiopia's Leul Gebrisilase (who was not on the website as an entrant earlier this week). His pb is 2:04:12.
That's 2:04:21 pace, which is a little on the slow side considering the first 5k is downhill. The pacers are aiming for 61:45 at halfway so they'll need to pick it up a bit.
