I’d argue that Sage has had a remarkably long career when compared to other pro American ultra runners.
The guy is still racing after pulmonary embolism last year. Yeah he’s not going to beat Kilian but it’s still really cool to see. His YouTube videos on training are pretty helpful (albeit goofy a lot of the time), seems like a nice guy. There are definitely a lot more pros that are less likeable
Muscle percentage, overall physical built and times dramatically changed in such short amount of time, which makes me believe that when you go pro, you take something you didn't take in college. Although it doesn't apply to all track clubs and doesn't apply to every runner. Risk and reward. Still everyone has to put in the work to achieve results but "something" is helping.
Sage is the saddest excuse for a professional athlete. Surely at this stage he just refers to himself as an instagram influencer.
Gotta agree with you. The guy has literally been a full-time runner, no job, no kids, no house to maintain, no wife to keep happy, for pretty much his entire "adult" life. And yet his biggest bragging points are running a 2:18 marathon (on a flaming fast course) and winning a few rinky-dink races 10 years ago when there was zero competition in ultrarunning?? It's great he manages to make a "living" doing his hobby but come on, he sure as sh*t ain't a professional athlete, him calling himself a pro athlete is a major disrespect to the true pros like Kipchoge or Seth James Demoor.
Look, he's transparent about what he's doing. He ran in college, sought to be a pro marathoner (and "signed" with a team/sponsor afterwards), and it didn't work out. He couldn't make the required times.
He was always into the Youtube stuff and was doing that along the way. As his elite level running goals may have been elusive, he found he could support himself through the influencer stuff, get sponsored, and still compete in ultras. As far as presenting himself as a pro - what I just described his how he presents himself. The "pro athlete" moniker on his channel - it's valid - which is to say, he's got a legit pedigree and coaching tips to offer compared to someone who doesn't share that background and record.
And no it's not "a major disrespect" to Kipchoge or whoever. Those guys (and women) are in a different realm. Everyone knows it, including Sage C. - he's not purporting to be in their league. And those in that league, are not losing sleep over Sage C. calling himself fairly - a pro athlete/youtuber/coach.

will LRC hold to their 'unsubstantiated speculation of PED use is not only allowed but encouraged' principles?
history points to 'no'
I miss when we could actually talk about Molly without the thread immediately getting deleted
No one can stay in top form forever. We all have a shelf life. Don't forget, he beated Anton Krupicka at Speedboat 50K. He put 8 minutes on Trail Jesus on the uphills, and even more time on the recent (at the time) World Mountain Running champion, Max King.

He's had a remarkably long pro running career period, not just among American ultra runners. Something like 13 years and just got renewed this year? That's twice as long as Daniel Komen. For sure the longest pro career of any of rojo's former athletes.

It's obvious (to me at least) that this thread was supposed to be about Sage Hurta, but since this board has a groove worn in where "Sage=Sage Canaday" the thread has become derailed and useless for its original purpose. Seems to be another "this runner improved a ton in a relatively short period of time is it suspicious" genre of thread. I guess if I were Sage I would take it as a compliment. I'm an OAC fan and wish them all the best. If they are on anything it's probably just the same gray-area stuff all the other pros do.
I don’t know what you are all talking about. In my opinion Sage has always been the kind of herb that can really elevate a dish and make the flavor “pop”. I wouldn’t consider this a “sudden improvement” either - I’ve considered Sage to be a staple ingredient for as long as I’ve been in the kitchen.
This post is extremely disappointing. Big tough keyboard warrior tearing down a great athlete and extremely knowledgeable coach. Take a hard look at yourself oaclover420. This post says a lot more about you than it does about Sage.

That's the point. The original purpose is lame, but Sage beated Toni Krupicka memes are fun.
Turning pro, for a decently backed team, means you have the support at all levels, especially coaching that is focused on the individual athlete. Take into account the age of the runner as well, there should be physical changes as her body matures and the training is more focused to her. She is not running 1:54. She is grinding in legit races, taking chances and still running with questionable form with her arm carriage and upper body. I hope she keeps improving.
In all my years, I have never seen a thread that better epitomized LetsRun than this one. At this very moment, these message boards have finally reached their exalted pinnacle. We are the water-skis, and the world is our shark.

It had no original purpose that was useful, and served only to bash someone who has improved their running, with gross speculation.
All the women get them shoved down their throats when they go pro. Gotta cut that body fat %%
It's such a classic body transformation that occurs between college and pro in women. Shalane Flanagan and Elle St. Pierre are other classic examples. Look at comparison pics of them during their senior years of college vs first 1-2 years as pro runners.
