Wouldn't this depend on how close I think he is to breaking 2 hours?
Two thoughts:
1. What would be more interesting? Seeing if Kipchoge can run sub 2:00 in a legal race or sub 1:59 in a INEOS type affair?
2. Someone like Jacob Kiplimo has no interest in pacesetting to help Kipchoge break 2:00 in a legal race. Given his talent, he should be hoping Kipchoge fails so he can be the first. There's probably more money in being the first legal sub 2 marathoner than there is in being a highly paid rabbit who later becomes the WR holder but the second sub 2 marathoner.
A long with pacers deeper into the race. Another racer capable of running close to 2 hours himself pushing Kipchoge right to the end.
