1 - Will Anthony is a top recruit and I had never heard about him until I did my research. He was definitely under the LR radar
2 - Lanana is doing a great job recruiting HS runners. He not only got Martin and Donahue from the US, but he also got Anthony from NZ. This is open to all the other coaches, but he is attracting them.
Last year, Lanana got Nate Mountain who was another prize recruit who ended up running 8:39 steeple in his freshman year. Not only is he getting them, but they also seem to thrive (Martin and Anthony seem to also be doing well).
UVA got ROCKED at ACC's. Do they even have a path to qualify for Nationals now?
Wake and UNC are the top 2 in the region. UVA needs to beat NC State and get pushed in, but the chances of them beating NC State look close to zero.
They just lost to NC State despite Gardner only being their 5th runner (he was their top runner at Nuttycombe). NC State is older and will do better over 10k. They also might get Vorbach back.
Very accurate assessment. NC state might have saved UVA by overperforming at Nuttycombe and picking up points. If it weren't for that, UVA would 100% have to place top 2 in the region which is difficult for a young team running 10k.

They do have a path to nationals... finishing 2nd at regionals (which is possible, but unlikely given the jump to 10k for this very young team).

Realistically it's highly unlikely they will beat UNC or Wake after getting dominated by them at ACCs and both of those teams are going to be even stronger over 10k than 8k.
Bend me over with a frying pan and smack me with a grapefruit! This thread has gone Vin Bananas! My major takeaways and points to add — 1. UVA stepped up today. I'll give them that. Justin Watchel proves to be a force! 2. UNC looks better, however. Parker wolfe will finish inside the top 5 at NCAA's with Patty Daddy Anderson charging back in top 15. 3. Nonetheless I love this rivarly. Two competitive teams with two great recruiters (who may or may not use clean methods)
4. Nontheless the best coach in the ACC is John Hellraiser Hayes. Vin is a good business man a trashBin of a coach. He has Gary Martin regressing immediately and getting pounded on by unknown 4:15 HS milers. John Hayes turns nobody's into somebodies. A true man. I love him!
They also beat Ole Miss who is ranked 3rd in the South region (they may qualify)
Nope. Ole Miss and Florida State are really bad this year. Tennessee and Alabama will grab the auto spots from the South region and there will be no at-larges. Ole Miss and Florida State have not beaten anyone this year. At-larges this year seem to be spread across the West, Mountain, and Southeast regions based on Nuttycombe performances. No I don't have a Kolas calculator, but its pretty easy math so far with only 2 weekends of big meets.
BTW: congratulations to Ole Miss for their NCAA qualification
I’ll be darned! Trevor and Jack Eliason have tightened the ship in hooville. Good on them I suppose. My question now, how would they fair at European U23s XC? I’d predict somewhere between wales and those Swiss blokes but that’s just me? Excited to touch down in Stillwater next week and watch Charlie hicks capture his first, OF MANY, NCAA titles. I love me a good Brit, salivate watching him run.
John Hayes is a solid coach, but an even more solid man. Excited to see OSU pound them all aggressively at Natty's. Dave Smith is seductively handsome as well. Holy smokes. LOL! For real though OSU looks great going into Stillwater at HOME! The Cowboys will rope their calf. Who else could contend for the title other than Stanford? Wake?
Gotta agree with Hoos rising on that take. Boy do I love me some Charles Hicks! What legs does the boy have! Great ones I'd say!
TOP 10!! LOL, I've been around a whole bunch ah fast kids in my day and I'll tell you something these kids aint it. Those Wake Forrest fellas took it easy on em last week but im thinkin a major stinker is in line for the hoos !!
Nice timing being a punk with all that these runners had to deal with last 24 hours. A madman running around their street after murdering people. Pure class! If they just get to the start line this week after this trauma it would be a miracle.
