It was 9/11 and two of our salespeople were in Dallas. The firm was pretty good about transportation. You could stay where you where until a flight opened up or rent a car and drive back to Florida.
The male boss and his hot junior saleswoman (both married), took 10 days to get home via rent a car from Dallas to Tampa. Some of us raised our eyebrows, but given everything that had occurred, it wasn't worth mentioning.
The head sales manager, however, did not agree. I am not in sales, so I wasn't in the first after 9/11 sales get together, but I heard about it.
He went on a rant for 20 minutes and used the f word maybe 50 times. "Look, damnit, I know you two spent 10 days "blanking"". He threatened to fire the woman (nice), even though guy was senior to her.
Afterwards, I told him that he can't fire either now since the story would get back to the legal crew and they would have a fit. He was clearly holding the woman responsible. He had to be dim.
Years later, both guys lost their job. The first guy lost it for sleeping with a client's wife. The sales manager was an HR nightmare. He once mentioned that his black secretary (very smart woman) had "black" penmanship.
I stayed at the place since there were 4 or 5 people on the product side that are rare talents.
