Sure, they have juiced balls for the entire league, but suggesting they are juicing balls for just one team or one player is absurd, and it’s one of the most implausible conspiracy theories I’ve ever seen.
Given that their pitchers are not giving up a bunch of homers, the only way that the conspiracy theory would be true is if MLB uses two sets of balls within Yankees games, one set for Yankees pitchers and another set for the opposing pitchers. Again, absurd. But if true, that would mean all the Yankees hitters are having phenomenal years. Alas, they are not. Stanton has a career low slugging percentage this year, Donaldson is slugging 100 points below his career average, and Gallo was so awful they had to get rid of him.
Clearly the ball is not juiced for the other Yankees hitters, which means the only way the conspiracy theory is true is if MLB has a special set of balls just for Judge! I can’t believe I’m even entertaining this craziness, but consider that Judge is in a contract year. Helping him excel is *against* MLB’s owners’ interests because that will drive up his salary this off-season and then raise the salary bar for those who follow. They don’t want that!
How about this for an explanation: one of the biggest and strongest hitters in baseball history is in his prime and healthy.
