What would an Idaho team have to do to receive an at large bid to NXN?
I’m a Boise parent but c’mon - Rocky boys did everything required and beyond to get the at large bid.
They won Bob Firman
They had 5 boys post sub 15:30 this year.
They finished a very close 3rd to #3 and #5 in the country at NXR.
They beat Great Oak head to head.
It feels like Nike will never pick an at large Idaho school - even if all the rankings, all of the stats , all of the performance is clear.
Do Idaho teams need to go to California or Oregon meets? That feels like the message. If Rocky had gone to Woodbridge or ASICS then perhaps that would have bolstered resume - but those are really long and expensive trips for high school students. Bob Firman is a NIKE multi region meet and every other Bob Firman champ has gone to NXN!
Or is the message just clear that they will never pick an at large Idaho team?
Transparency would really help - as Nike needs to own up and at least provide public justification for their decision.
Hats off to Rocky on the boys season - it was incredible effort.
I’m rooting for a boys team to crack this barrier.
Hats off to Rocky on the boys season - it was incredible effort.
Especially after graduating 4 seniors from last year.
CDA is next though
Hey Factos - I would love to see CDA next year and will root for all Idaho teams, but this a serious question. Should the Idaho teams just bite the bullet and travel to a major Oregon or California meet as a requirement if they want to bolster NXN or go to another region? Bob Firman is a legit meet with major schools from all over and if that's not enough then maybe this is the loud message from NIKE. There is no explanation that has been provided other than they want you to beat NXR auto qualifier head to head. Rocky did that this year beating Great Oak. If Rocky has gone to Woodbridge with their top 7 - which is a rocket ship of a course and only 3 miles - just eyeballing the times it looks like Rocky would have beaten at least 1 of these California teams on top of Great Oak. That's a shame if that is the requirement. But maybe that is the message and the buffer you need if you can't deliver 1 or 2 at NXR which is obviously the straightest path. Illinois gets three schools and California gets 4, but no Idaho...
CDA is going to win state next year. The underclassmen talent they have is unmatched. They have 4 guys under 16 that will be returning next year. The only thing that is bringing them down is their 4/5 gap of 54 seconds. If they can bring down that 4/5 gap they are going to be a powerhouse in the NW.
Why are people so obsessed about talking about next year. Let tomorrow worry about tomorrow. Look at Bishop Blanchet from WA. Anything can happen. Lets stay focused on this season rather than try to speculate.
Well it was gonna be difficult for Blanchet to make NXN anyways. The region has teams that ended up in 2nd and 4th at NXN, and also a team that should have gotten an at-large
Coeur d'Alene has King and the Cervi-Skinner twins who are strong but lack depth. Next years team will be stacked! CDA has an eight grader running 4:40 miles coming up plus multiple kids running under 5. New Club coaches paying dividends.
Jacob King 29:56
Maximus Cervi-Skinner 33:17
Zackery Cervi-Skinner 35:42
Mitchell Rietze 35:42
Alex Studebaker 40:01
Levi Bird 41.29
Caleb Torgenson 47:13
They return the 13th fastest group of guys in the nation, even with that big 4-5 gap. They aren’t graduating anyone

Bro can you not just analyze and be happy for what a team did this year, what's with you and the future? Clough had an incredible performance, huge pr. Don't mask the greatness of the present with the possibility of the future.
Some people like making predictions for the future
Based on this, I think Rocky Mountain found a 5th and maybe a 6th for next XC season. So they have their core 4 already (Keith U, Lucas, Reed, Tuft), And they also have: Thomas - 10 - 10:04 - 5 seconds behind Tuft Jensen - 11 - 4:38 - 3 seconds behind Tuft. Only ran a 10:20 in the 3200. He ran a 10:13 earlier this season so maybe this was an off race for him
