Does anyone else think that Idaho will soon be a king of the NW region?
It should have started to be that way a long time ago. NXR is in Idaho
No.
I’m in Idaho and love to see Idaho runners and teams do well, but running is big in Oregon and Washington and between them they have over 6x more people. Plus Montana is occasionally good.
Backwards Covid policies in Washington killed a few classes of runners, but they’ll be back eventually. Oregon had some good leadership among some coaches that kept the kids running and racing and that seems to have kid off for them despite Oregon’s also backwards policies.
Rocky was ranked #7 in the newest Dyestat rankings, and milesplit has them at #4. In the country.
Any discussion about the best Idaho team is now over. Between the state meet results and the fact that Rocky is likely going to NXN, there isn't another team close.
That being said, it will be interesting to see if Bishop Kelly or Coeur D'Alene does better at NXR. My guess is CDA, but it's anyone's game.

The discussion was over after Bob Firman.
Sometimes teams do far worse than expected at NXR because of peaking for state and the break. It’ll be interesting to see who has planned their season in order to still perform at a high level.

Not CDA. Their 4-5 gap is way too large. I don’t think there is much time right now to close it
Who will be the Idaho runners at NCAA nationals this year?
Nick Russell (individual qualifier at Santa Clara) and Lexy Halladay (BYU) might be the top individuals. Who else is going?
Mark Crandall if Utah State goes.
Zach Erickson (BYU) and Nathan Green (Washington) are doing well but don’t look to be on their team’s race day top 7 varsity squads for nationals this year.

FWIW, based on the number of high school students in the state, the fair share for Idaho is just 2-3. Just 0.60% of HS students are in Idaho. Oregon should have 5-6 and Washington 10-11.

I'm not on Rocky, but I want them to be the first Idaho boys' team to go to nationals. Yesterday was just a toon up race. Nothing more, nothing less.
Well….should they not get an at-large, we better hope CDA finds a 5th (preferably a 6th and 7th too) for next year
Lots of 8th, 9th, and 10th graders that could fill those spots next year
CDA could do it, but they have a lot of work to do. Look at the score grid on athletic live and compare their 2-5 to Jesuit’s and Crater’s 2-5. It may or may not be Crater and Jesuit, but somebody will probably be that good.

Rosina Machu (Gonzaga) almost made it as a freshman. She finished top 25 in the west, but there were too many higher finishers from non-qualifying teams in the west regional.
The top two runners from the Rocky Mountain ID boys cross country team, junior Landon Heemeyer and senior Tyler Sainsbury, join DyeStat editor Doug Binder to discuss Saturday's Nike Cross Northwest regional meet, which is hel...

Crater does have a returning squad than CDA. But if CDA finds a 5th they will have a better returning squad than Jesuit. What can make Jesuit better is: Jerry Schumacher’s son getting back to full health Sophomore (the guy on the cusp between varsity and JV) switching from soccer to XC full time. I doubt that he will since he is already varsity soccer. but people have switched from varsity soccer to XC Jesuit’s 5-7 consist of 2 freshmen and a soph though. so they got a bright future.
