because the teachers voted in leftists who teach kids they can be as disrespectfull to authority as they like wothout consequencies (police one example). they get what they voted for.
In my dept. we had 1/2 lunch and a “conference” period. In Special Ed. Your conference period was no picnic with pals—it was tough emotional, practical negotiations and planning with parents, professional consultants, and administrators. IEP time, Get-real time!
Two things that often get overlooked-- in my state, you need an actual teaching degree (and now apparently a master's w/in a few years of when you start) and your pay is in no way tied to your abilities (everyone gets paid the same regardless of how students progress; your pay is completely a function of your time in the job).
This leads to scenarios such as the following:
1) A friend's son who had recently finished a PhD in Physics (where teaching undergrads is part of the job...), knew he was going to exit academia and wanted to work a few years close to home while looking for industry jobs. But he couldn't teach high school physics at a public school b/c he didn't have a degree in education. He ended up working for two years at a private school where teachers were paid less than their public schools counterparts. Yet somehow the students tended to have better outcomes there (it all starts at home!)
2) A high-achieving coworker looking to cut back his working hours and help out with the local schools. He's already a coach and is good with kids. But on top of not wanting to go back to school for 5 years in his 50s, he is really turned off by the lack of incentives. Not even about the money as I think he just wants something to do and to serve the next generation, but just the principle of it
Leftists teach kids to have respect for education, unlike some conservatives. That's why teachers are very happy to have our kids setting the curve in their classes. They love to read because we emphasized the value of reading through our actions and through taking them to spend time at the library frequently. They learned basics of mathematics and history/politics early on as everyday conversational topics, and so they excel in all of their classes. (I admit they're not sports stars yet but working on moving up).
They're not the brightest to begin with. But I agree that they get blamed for stupids kids. That is one their parents.
If you are going to post something so openly arrogant, how about not pluralizing the adjective before a plural verb. We don't do that in English 💡
It was a typo. Look up IQ and majors in college. Right at the bottom is the education majors along with social work. But I thought everyone knew that already.
Woke K-12 teachers ranting about their leftist agendas are ubiquitous on social media, particularly the Twitter account "Libs of TikTok." As universities ram...
All my teachers friends would last 6 months in a high pressure corporate/engineering/business environment. I've witnessed this firsthand a couple of times...
Not sure where they are going to find other work.
Liar. You have no teacher friends. Friends would not feel the way you do about the people you are talking about.
My daughter in law graduated in May of 2022 and started her full time teaching job in August. 3rd grade, rural midwest school. Pay is $37k per year.
i live in another area, bigger city about 2 hour drive. Entry level no degree jobs around here are around $20/hour = $40k per year.
Low pay is a big reason.
Hahahhahahhahaha!! What a cow. It’s her fault for accepting such low pay. The fatty across the street makes six figures for teaching the little chollos in CA. She’s been out 2 yrs. She leaves for work after me and gets home before I do. So no way she even works 6 hr days. Cry me a river you lazy teachers. Go back to work since you can’t figure out Zoom calls. What a lethargic group of slugs.
thanks for confirming that the anti-teacher demographic is mainly made up of a-holes
Having taught both in Richmond Va and Canberra Australia I can say teaching is a tough gig.
But...wouldn't change my job for the world. I will go in to work tomorrow at 8am and until 4:30pm I will be on the edge of my seat making sure learning is happening and I am supporting staff. A moment or two for a quick sandwich or a coffee but everyday is different and no telling what the day may bring.
Because you're forced to enact policies that you disagree with and to teach things that you know not to be true, and then told that "it's not our place to push our values onto others". (Irony is seemingly lost on education departments.)
Also, you realise that for the most part you're fighting a losing battle. Kids learn how to learn well before entering a classroom (let alone a high school classroom), and if that skillset isn't developed early and constantly reinforced at home, there aint sh*t any teacher can do.
Add to this the instance on behavioural policies that actively sabotage the learning outcomes of well-behaved kids, and you've created the kind of emotionally draining environment that only the people who are half-arsing it can stand for long.
