I think theys aid the arch is 80 meters from the finish which is about right as it took them like 10-11 seconds.
Absolutely!
This track belongs in the G-league. Cones??
Sifan Hassan is done
Track should be 500m so its just 10 laps to the 5K. Make the turns less tight, paint the lines straight and get rid of the banks and its not a half bad idea.
Agreed! It's great to see an American up front and pushing the pace. Big fan
She did fine but you can see clearly what's missing for her. When the kicking started she was gone
They want to showcase a famous plaza or whatever. But that necessitates going around a routine office building that might as well be Dubuque, Iowa.
That said, I prefer this sort of track for the 5 and 10K. The 3000 is the longest thing that should go on the 400 meter track, unless someone wants to jog their way to another hour record.
Chase Ealey winning again. She might be the most successful athlete in track and field this year, certainly the most successful American
Haven't people been saying that all year?
Kovacs has improved very suddenly.
Kovacs tops off a stellar season! What a battle next year when Crouser is 100%. And Chase Ealey gets her Diamond also.
The road track venue has kinda grown on me. Kinda like indoor but outdoor, not because of the banks but because of how close the fans can get to the action. Pretty sick that they can line both the outside and inside of the track. Also worth mentioning that it's free entry for anyone! To grow the sport you need to engage the casual people who aren't really fans (yet) and honestly don't see any difference between the road track and a standard 400m track, but are looking for a good time around the city. Maybe the purists hate to hear that but I think Zurich and Munich, by virtue of being actual cities, are much more successful hosts than a quiet Eugene filled with a few diehard track nerds. Can't wait to see this pole vault competition with everyone crowding the elevated runway and getting the claps going.
Why isn't Crouser at 100%. I just assumed that Kovacs was throwing better.
The imperial results seem more impressive to me for some reason.
Kovacs at ~ 76' 2.5" Crouser at ~ 74' 7"
It feels OK to have it once a year. I agree with others that maybe the final isn’t the best time. It led to a fun race here as it looked like the tight turn led to Tsegay naturally going wide and a big lane for Chebet to fly through on the rail. With this win, the Kenyans get 4 and the Ethiopians already have 4. Going to be tough for Cranny/Schweizer/Monson with so much depth likely (assuming Hassan/Niyonsaba return as well).
Per the broadcast it looks like Crouser got covid after worlds?
what is wrong with Crouser? wrote:

Bad case of COVID per reports.
