You might as well ask Wightman if he was watching Jakob destroy the 5000m field at Eugene. THAT is much scarier than what Wightman did which was run fractions faster than Alan Webb's 800m PB. No disrespect to Wightman was it was a great run for a 1500m specialist, but I really don't think this will get in Jakob's head.
Wightman is done with the 1500 this year, he's running the 800 in Zurich
He is playing ala Coe game. Let's see if Sebastian Coe will help him.
(well Coe/Ovett/Cram family tradition)
What? I know you're writing in a second language - God knows, I have difficulty writing in Polish and Czech - but I have no idea what this post is supposed to mean.
Wightman has gone to full on 800m training. Can he run that and 3:29 at the same time?
I'm sure Jakob could lop a chunk of time off his 800 if he discontinued his M and T pace running and went full on speed for a period of time.
Where have you seen that? From what I've read about his training, it doesn't change much once the season starts. He's an 800/1500 guy who spent the last off-season building strength. If he wanted to run the 1500, I'm sure he could still pull out a 3:29. Not sure that beats Jakob but he'd be challenging
Mo Farah has similar or better championship record than Bekele, Geb, or Komen. Yet no one would consider him a better distance athlete than any of them.
Nope, that's ridiculous. Racing is about winning global championships, that's what counts at the top end. Farah was a far better athlete than Komen and arguably as good as Geb. Bekele is in a class of his own, in my view, but Farah was utterly dominant, as close to unbeatable as we have ever seen over a period of 6 years.
Wightman was almost surely in 1:43 shape when he won Worlds. I doubt he made much of a gain in fitness since then, but was able to fully display it in the 800.
If Jakob really wants the 1500m outdoor record, he would be wise to drop his slowish 800m PB. He ran that local 800 in Norway in early June in a disappointing 1:47 for fourth place. He looked good winning the Lausanne 1500 in 3:29 low, but if wants to lop 3 seconds off that, he's gonna need more speed. 1:45 low or 1:44 would put him in position to go 3:26 or better.

No, Farah was not a good as Geb and Bekele. And it's not even close.
