Koster, Ned., is the girl who was closest to her personal best time - she finished fourth here, just three seconds outside her personal best while most of the others were well outside.

Men's high jump is so weak
Strange how they manage to cough up so many clueless commentators.
This post isn't a Klosterhalfen "hater" post and sorry for any English mistakes. I am a fan of Konstanze and have seen her race as early as her days at SSG Konigswinter and in Leverkusen after that. I am worried a good result against weak and tired runners will paper over the obvious cracks and stop Konstanze getting into a healthier set up. Athletin like Konstanze should be always in the medal fight at worlds/Olympics.
I don't think we can learn that much from that race. Can destroyed her own race. McColgan has run 4 10000s and 5 5000s in under 4 weeks. Konstanze went through 3k in 9:02, running 14:50 with a 70, 69, 67 last 1200. Extremely even and steady.
Compared to Eugene, Gudaf went went 70, 70, 60 FTW (14:46). An unfair comparison perhaps, but it shows the gap between KK/Can/McColgan tonight vs the top women in the world. Compared to the American and Canadian performances at BU (where Konstanze still holds the track record) - that was a 14:31 with a 67, 66, 64 last 1200.
And for the "Klosterhalfen is back" crowd. Again, I am not saying it is not a good performance and that I did not cheer very hard for her. We all were screaming at the television. But I think people are all forgeting how brilliant she was in 2019. World bronze (20 seconds ahead of athletes like McColgan, Schweizer, and Purrier) in 14:28 **with a 59 second last lap!!** Probably would have received silver if she did not try go around the outside of Obiri on the corner. Her last 1200m went 72, 69, 59 - a veryclose in a race that went under 14:30.
I do not understand how as she has run worse over last three years, the coach who controls her programming gets applause for "bringing her back." If I crash my friend's car and I only fix it good enough for it to go 75% as fast as it did before, no one would think my friend should be happy with me for a job well done.
When I said there was too much talk about Garcia, I was downvoted by some.
Even the title of this thread is promoting his name.
He need to past the test of "high road" to claim a place among the elite.
I don't think anyone is mistaking this for "Koko back among the global elite." It's just a positive performance for an athlete who is pretty likable. She's had a rough couple of years and a European title is a step in the right direction.
Back pain. She pulled out of 1500 and 10000 to focus on 5000, but have not been running for some days. Very sad as this was a gold opportunity for her.
You asked about Nordås pulling out of the 10000, I have not read about it but I think he got extremely upset with himself after the 5000. Seems like he has some mentality issues sadly. He is very hard on himself.
Does anyone know if the Europeans shower or bathe regularly? I have been hearing some rumors but they may be only rumors.
Why does some americans end up acting so weird as a reaction to great european performances?
Good question. A couple of my best friends are European. Great folks.
Fair enough post. I do feel like she has been running better this year, though it is definitively below her 2019 level. I guess the question would then be who do you want to switch to training under? I mean Bowerman seems like a bad choice for any athlete with a history of injuries. We’re not expecting her to train with the Ethiopian groups, I’m sure. I guess the one that might be nice is On in Boulder with Obiri moving there, and Monson. But that wouldn’t work with her Nike sponsorship.
Well I have seen now the final 1500m ERO 2022 and I have my small idea.
Tracking the "tracked"...
Do you also wonder the same about Evan Jager?
What was your worst running injury and how long did it take to get back to your pre-injury level?
Grovdal woes here. No running for the past two weeks, only elliptical. She seriously felt that she was due to get two medals (if I interpreted her post correctly), in the 10,000 and the 5000. Do you think her wish was realistic? She has one of the strongest bodies in female distance running, in some ways similar to the Kenyan idol Obiri. She looks like someone who could do 10 pull-ups with good form.
if there are any information pieces from the Norwegian press, please post here. Thank you.
