Another example of how 400 splits are indeed meaningful. Femke clocked a couple of high 48 splits, which equates to a mid 49 open 400, and yep that's what she ran. Great stuff, but Femke is not alone in being at that level -- Britany Wilson and Steiner split similarly earlier this year, and could go toe-to-toe with her. It really is amazing how few of the world's best 400 open runners actually run the open 400.
I wonder if Britton considers switching events. But if Sydney does switch events she’s in the mix to challenge Bol/Muhammad if she can improve her hurdling. But if Sydney doesn’t, she’s both in much better shape to make US teams at 400 and win a medal. That’s if Miller-Uibo actually switches events which would be pretty non-sensical unless she can really improve.

If Syd does not switch events, Bol will have a better chance of winning the open 400m than the hurdle, with or without SMU.
Absolute dominance. The first half of the double is complete.
Easily the most compelling and likable track athlete in the world right now.
I love that somehow this is getting thumbs down - presumably for the "compelling and likeable" part.
But in a way I'm finding myself agreeing with you. Firstly she is a hell of a lot more likeable than her primary competitor Scowley McLaughlin who despite being better looks like she's miserable almost all of the time out there, secondly she really has a carefree innocence to her and desire to put herself out of her comfort zone (like this, running the 400m) like almost nobody else and finally she doesn't take herself too seriously and just sounds like a nice and relatable person as evidenced by her interviews etc.
I don't know what isn't compelling and likeable about all of that - I guess she isn't American so doesn't qualify for that accolade.
What I know for sure is that 2 of the worlds best female quarter milers are running the 400mH as their primary event and after tonight she, like SML would have seriously pushed Miller-Uibo to the brink in Eugene.
It has everything to do with the “easily” part. Bol is likeable. And compelling. But “easily the most” is an unnecessary over exaggeration. “One of” is a much better way to phrase it.
The one wearing the crown does not need to race often. If you were heavy weight boxing champ with all belts from all boxing organizations, you would not defend your title more than x 2 per year. S.M. is Olympic champion, World Championship champion and world record holder. What runners under S.M. do does not affect Sydney McLaughlin.
Say what? Inspire Syd to do what? Syd is Olympic Champion, World Champion and WR holder. Underlings cannot inspire someone already great. Looks to me Bol is being inspired by Syd.
I'm enough of a fan of track to enjoy both Femke and Sydney's running. Doesn't have to be an either/or (when they aren't racing against each other...and at the world champs I was cheering for both!).

You could have just told us she is fast and she is white. This is code for likable for you.
In another thread a day or two ago, somebody made a very similar accusation about loving Coe because he is white; the accuser apparently did not realize that Coe is 1/8th Indian.

It was me. Who cares if Coe is1/8 Indian? I already knew that. You entirely miss the point when you point that out. Are you intentionally obtuse?
