Bit of a yawner, too bad.

Katir ran super-safe. Good strategy for Silver but he’s never going to scare Jakob letting him control the final 2 laps.
He made that look easy. 3:57 or so for Jakob last 1600.
Ingebrgitsen make it look easy 38.93 is what i had for his last 300!!!
PS. Have these announcers watching the same sport that I've been watching the last few months? They thought Ingebrigtsen's results in Eugene somehow made him vulnerable in this 5000 at Euros? He won the damn 5000 world title in Eugene. Yes, there is always doubt until the last 100 when he pulled away and crushed Katir. But it's just like Kipchoge until mile 25 in a marathon.
Do they not realize there's a big difference in leading a 1500 and leading a 5000?
When he front runs a 1500, he's the #2 guy in the world at that. In a tactical 5000, he's not losing as it bascialy turns into a 1500.
At 200m to go I really thought Katir might dig in and find a way to pull it off. Too bad!
Probably 53 high the final lap.
The idea that he's never had a kick is false; however, it is true that he is not a fast sprinter compared to other elite middle distance runners. He just closed in a 3:58 1600 to win. Last three laps were 60, 59, 55. The 55 on top of two 60-ish laps is what makes him different. Nobody can wind up from far out like he can. He simply takes the sting out of everybody else's kick that makes his kick seem great.
Hugo Hay, The Frenchman was absolutely furious because he alleged that he was pushed intentionally by the Spanish athlete, Katir, and that it impeded him from achieving his goal, falling in the process on the penultimate lap and then never getting back to where he wanted to be. Personally, I think it is sour grapes by the Frenchman because I did not see any intentional harm from the Spaniard. To my mind, it was certainly not an intentional foul.
LOL. My bad. I meant, what a breathtaking, thrilling, exciting race!
Maybe the announcers want people to stay tuned like when the Cowboys are down by 15 with 5 minutes left and the announcer says this one is not over folks, and of course it is usually over.
Definitely sour grapes. Got tangled running in a pack. It sucks, but it happens. Katir is the clear #2 in that field. That French guy? Not so much.
Jakob with another final 1,000m squeeze down, he is virtually unbeatable in this type of championship race. 2:23 final 1,000m and final 1,200 of 60.8, 59.8, 54ish. He'll never change gears in the final 250m like Bekele or Geb, but nobody can survive him making a long run for home while gradually dropping the pace like that.
Absolutely was an intentional gesture. He did not mean to make him fall, but he did intend to push him over.
Tentoglou with 8.52. Wow. Where was that in Eugene? Looked more relaxed here.
There's been nobody that I can ever remember since at least the 80s, drug-fueled late 90s excluded, that is as relaxed running 60-second laps as Jakob is. It's incredible. The 2nd and 3rd laps from home took nothing out of him, while they just destroyed Katir. It's incredible.
Hard to keep your cool when you're racing an obvious doper.
What was he supposed to do there?
Maybe he could have saved some energy tucking behind in lane 1. But clearly Jakob still had about 3 extra gears at the end.
I absolutely don’t believe that, and I don’t think the Spanish athlete, Katir, is stupid enough to think that he could get away with intentionally shoving a rival and then being disqualified. Everybody knows what the rules are even in the heat of the moment. I’ve seen much worse incidents than this one and the Frenchman, Hay, is just being a crybaby, I’m sorry. I’m really disappointed that the Frenchman takes out all his venom on the Spanish athlete and I was just watching him talk on French TV after the race and he was very bitter and insulting towards his rival. I had a better image of him previously and this, to my mind will taint his personality. He is trained in the famous Belgian group by Tim Moreau.
Not that it’s easy but he could have really tried to go by Jakob on the penultimate lap. That’s where Jakob wins the race by turning the screws

Hays reaction was completely out of line unless some video shows a blatant move by Katir. Nothing I saw in real time.
