This is not even close to correct. If you look at any of Soles top runners’ stravas, you’ll see that they’ve never hit more than 65 miles in a week. And that’s just the top group of boys. I’m sure if you found the accounts of a sophomore girl in that range, she would be doing less than 50 miles a week. Please have actual proof before posting slander like this.
Leandro Candray. #2 in the race. #1 on the team. He originally wasn’t supposed to be top 7 for Great Oak until Christian Simone was injured and done for the season early.
I have actually talked to one of his former athletes who was a sophomore girl (at the time) who described her training to me. I'm guessing she was running somewhere around 75-80mpw w/ a long run and 3 hard days.

Let me clarify. My friend has a niece who was running for GO several years before Doug left. She asked if she could bring her niece by to meet me since I'm an avid distance runner in my area. I agree to chat w/ her when she was in town. Curious as to what the GO training looked like, I asked what an average week of training was like. She didn't tell me "we do X miles a week" but what she did list in her day-by-day Definitely added up to well over 70mpw. There was no reason for her to lie or make any of it up. There was also no reason for her to Not tell me what she was doing per week, as was rumored by their top runners through the years. She was an unassuming sophomore girl who's 3200 PR was 12:00 ish. That's the story, and there's no fluff involved, just the facts.

12:00 3200 runner is going to average about 8:00/mi +-:30 for their weekly mileage
"well over 70mpw" so what's that 75-80mpw?
75 x 8 = 600 minutes of running per week
600 / 7 = 85 minutes per day on average?
I find this extremely hard to believe
I coached some very talented teams and kids in the same region and in all my years only had one runner average over 50mpw for a 52wk period and our program was considered as high volume by most
Oh yeah, not a single kid I coached (that comes to mind) went on to run relatively better in college; not those who went D1, D2, D3 or community college. Maybe, just maybe, it's because the vast majority of college coaches (and the college system in general) are actually trash?
Asking a teenager to self-report her training from memory is not a good way to see what a training program actually looks like. Kids remember the big workouts, not the easy days, or the pre-meet shakeout runs, or the workouts where the coach told them to stop with a couple reps left to go.
Judging how athletes develop when they're no longer in high school and being trained by a different coach doesn't seem like a valid way to judge a high school coach.
Looks like Brianna Weidler won the Big West today. Does Soles get credit for that, or only for bad results? Serious question. Candray was 2nd in his meet. Abbes was 1st for Berkeley. Sounds like a couple people with sour grapes to me. The data isn’t supporting your narrative. Wish I could get one kid to college. I’m amazed at how many Soles has sent. Go through that Berkeley roster. Did Sole’s ruin all those kids? None are running well compared to high school. Oh, they have a college coach? Maybe that coach is the problem.
looking through the college results from the past couple days, what place did London Culbreth get? The Beavercreek girl that was 2nd at Nationals, what place did she get? Where is the thread blaming her Hs coach? Oh, many of the top Hs athletes don’t pan out? Interesting.
Lol. For every 1 athlete you can show who is succeeding, there are at least 5 that have burnt out. Sounds like a pretty crappy ratio of you ask me. Interesting.

It is easy to get to 85 minutes per day when you are required to run doubles.

OK great...go get some interviews and post them and see exactly why they did not run better. Post them here. Let's see if maybe their college coach's program did not match their ability to get better for whatever reason. Let's see if they quit for academic reasons and wanted to focus on them more and running was in the way. Because that is true for at least one of the runners you listed on this list. What about academic reasons in college where perhaps they were struggling and their focus was over on that? God forbid that's not acceptable on Letsrun though. What if they were partying to much and lemme guess...that's Doug Soles fault. What if they simply did not want to run anymore? Or they did not find college running very stimulating? Gosh...that's another no no for Letsrun. You got the list. You got your "purely data" side. Now go prove your narrative and report back. Because what you have here is rumors and drama. But when you do interview them...or if you do....ask how much their college coaches increased their mileage and how they responded. Or if they were so trashed from high school, why their college coach could not save them. They did recruit them and all.

Come on now. You've been presented with clear evidence that Doug Soles coaches high schoolers who DO NOT SUCCEED in college running. Your response is pathetic.

Go ahead and do it then. There is nothing clear you have presented. Seriously, you sound like high school gossip with your lists and what you are presenting very loosely...burnout. I'm familiar with his program and why some of those athletes are not running or did not do as well in college and it's not Soles's fault. They don't even care about their performance in college and moved onto different things. You and others that wanna go after Doug seem to though. And yes those athletes did stand behind him after he resigned. So go ahead and do your due diligence. Track them down via social media. Post any interviews here. What high school coach ends up having all of their athletes liking them in the beginning, middle, or end? Not all. And Doug would not give athletes everything they wanted and didn't care if they complained. But you won't find a harder working, fair coach out there. But your gossip to convince people sounds very manipulative and "Amber Heard" like. You should get that checked out.

Well my cousin's, neighbor's, mother's Amazon driver told me there's no way she would've run that many miles with those PRs.
