I'm guessing she will break the record. She's a metronome for distance racing. If it goes out fast she's one to hold that pace and click off the miles.
It's her mental strength that just puts her on a different level to the rest.Who else goes so hard vomits after almost every race while the others fake deck and flop around pretending they went hard .
Gidey is almost always prepared to suffer although her discomfort doesn’t seem to affect her stride. She is familiar with Valencia. I say sub 2:13. I don’t know about pacers though. Will she have them? I hope I get to see it. For a person that can no longer run a step, I still love to watch races.
He's already run sub-60 for HM. That's not a great HM time, it's merely very good for a top tier elite. Neither Bekele nor Kipchoge have come anywhere near low-58 like Tadese and Kamworor did, and now we're in the sub-58 range for a great HM. I stand by the point: the HM is not a good indicator of marathon potential on its own.
That’s because Kipchoge doesn’t concentrate on the half. We know he could run under 1 hour half, but his concentration had been the marathon after his track career.

How many HM did Bekele run when he was at his absolute best 2003-2009?
So if you go back and see that fist WR or world best in the 15 km … it was an absolute cracker from her. I don’t think this board understands the caliber of athlete that We have in gidey.
if her hm best is high 62. 66/67/68 for the fist half will be very comfortable. Let’s take 67 for the first half. Coming home in 65 will be possible … I want her to do a big negative split of 68- 64 for a high 2:12. I have no doubt that she will break this WR and hold 5k 10k 15k half marathon and marathon WR. This is goat territory
A world record is a world record for a reason. Not easy even for a great great runner to break. I predict no, though I will be happy for her if she succeeds. The marathon requires pacing that can take you to a superb time, or eat you up and spit you out in the final miles.
Who are projecting at least sub 2:16 are at least putting thought into their predictions. Most elite marathoners are now capable of running a marathon = 2 X half marathon+ add 3-4 minutes for each half. Even debuts this has proved doable by several Ethiopians and Kenyans crushing 2:17-18 debuts . A few of the great marathoners are capable of the same except 2-3 add each half. American men and women have also displayed the ability which makes this formula legit
Letesebet 1)2 marathon PB is: 1:02:52 or 1:03 lets add a MODEST 5:30 minutes each half and you get 2:14 flat and that would be an average run for a properly prepared debut!
The claim someone put up that Bekele wouldn't be able to run a fast HM...
That's gotta rank pretty decently for "typically ludicrous letsrun logic".
there was also mention that sub 60 isn’t great. You have run within seconds of the world record to be great now. Remember that guys. Only Eliud and Kenenisa are great marathoners. Everyone else is a scrub. Only Dibaba and Kipyegon are great 1500m runners. Hassan is over a second off. What a scrub loser.
Every other performance she has in recent history is vdot 72-73
Her half performance is vdot 77
Super-shoes cannot do that much boost, it's impossible, not even alphafly.
Something doesn't add up.
So if it's a vdot 73 marathon she'll do 2:18
And yes if she somehow does 77 again it will be a WR, or maybe since half is done exactly at LT threshold, she will bonk at mile 23 and end up with 2:16

2 x (3 + 5:30) = 14 ?
OK, "Letesebet" is a fairt try - even in the 4th attempt. You are right in not correcting anything, it might getting worse.
