I am a teenage girl and had a chilling experience at the track today.
It was 80 degrees out and mid-morning, around 10 o'clock. There was a heat advisory in my state today. I have already ran a few laps. The only people on the track are me and this stereotypical dad hobby jogger. I look up and at the steps descending from the parking lot down to the track, there is a large man looking at me. He was big and burly, dressed in a heavy sweatsuit. I had to do a double-take, because I realized he was wearing a ski mask covering his entire face except for his eyes as well as gloves. This immediately made me alarmed. He then waves/wiggles his fingers right at me, which are also gloved.
I started speeding up instantly towards the other runner on the track. I stopped him and was just explained that I was startled. He agreed something was not right. The man was pacing back and forth around the entrance of the track. The dad-runner advises me to stay next to him. As soon as the man advances away from the entrance, we both leave together.
I always tell myself i'm being 'dramatic' in these situations but I am seriously terrified at what this man's intentions were. Not to mention, I think it is illegal to wear a ski-mask in public when it is so blatantly unwarranted. Thoughts?
