Who cares what happenned, the selection process in Australia may have 'precedent' but it has always been different to the USA, I would be happy with trials and top 3 going etc, but it is what it is, your win or standard has never benn an iron clad guarrantee, and i cannot see why you get so hysterical about it
And as someone else with common sense also pointed out 'hey , maybe she just had a better kick than the others off tortoise like pace because she was rested and peaked for CG". It isn't like she 'over performed ' at all, the others under performed because of WC
Abbey was definitely robbed of her WC spot. It would have been valuable experience for her, and she deserved to be there. She was clearly the better than Griffith, even at the time of selection.
The outcome for Australia at the world championships would have been similar though if she was there. Abbey would have made the final, and not medalled, which is exactly what Griffith, the person she would have replaced did. The bronze medalist, Muir, from WC won this race convincingly just after having run an all out 800m the day prior. So we know that in order for Abbey to have medalled at WC she needed to win this race. Now I do think Abbey probably would have been higher up in the standings than Griffith, possibly as high as fourth.
The Aussies looked like fools by not selecting their national champion, who beat Griffith and Hall head to head. The result here didn't change much, this is the shape we should have all expected from her given her national champ win and the 800m result. Do the Aussies look like fools, yes. Anymore so than before the race, not really. If she beat Muir they would have looked like fools squared.
Hull is classy and was undoubtedly Australia's lead chance at Eugene, a shame she missed the jump in the final + covid.
Caldwell has class and poise, her coach is a goofball. For whatever reason, maybe yin and yang, they seem to be a good team.
I'd say with some reluctance, Griffith seems to be inproving with Bideau.
Hall is good, but like her mate Bissett, it's time to make a move. Ned Brophy has done a great job keeping them happy under trying circumstances after their previous grub of a coach. It's time to transition to a new coach and group with middle distance experience, they both move inefficiently and lack racing skills.
Add to the women - Hoare, Bol, McSweyn, Charlie Hunter, Jye Perrot, Jye Edwards, Peyton Craig, Charlie Jeffreson and Claudia Hollingsworth and it's a very exciting era of Australian Middle Distance running
I like Hull but it's a stretch to say she missed the jump in the final at Eugene. She couldn't have hung on even if she went with the pace. Like the rest of the field, she was stomped by three women who are significantly better than her. Not saying she can't get to that level but she's nowhere near that this season.
What's the story behind Bisset & Hall's former coach?
They didn't have the same coach before Brophy-Williams. The other poster has conflated them. Bisset was formerly coached by Peter Fortune. I don't know Hall's history.
It's not surprising but it's perpetually disappointing because so many of them don't reach their potential, but I guess Nic's overseas properties are not going to pay for themselves.

Nice use of conflated, I just assumed they were both together. Now you've mentioned it, I do recall Bissett mentioning 'Fort' in past interviews.

Hall was coached by Bruce Scriven prior to Brophy-Williams.
Shoutout to Nic Bideau who had pretty much all his athletes underperform and look totally cooked at both comms and WCs. He can bang on about having so many athletes on national teams but it doesn't mean anything if they run like garbage.
You say this like it's a surprise. MTC athletes have underperformed at championships for well over a decade. None of them have even come close to a comm games medal since Mottram.
Linden Hall was about to... then Abby MF Caldwell came through on the outside.

You proved the point. Linden Hall isn't MTC. That's why she's been able to deliver with 2x 4th at Comm Games and a 6th in Tokyo
