Hicks, Sprout, Robinson, Young (2x). Not sure how anyone is beating that.
I have an answer to that, which I'm posting here after they blocked posts on the original thread. Going by the eligibility listed on Stanford's track roster and NAU's xc roster, the Youngs won't be running with Hicks, who is listed as a senior, or with Beaudoin-Rousseau (5th year), Devin Hart, or Liam Anderson, all seniors. Next year, Stanford apparently will have Robinson and Sprout still to go with the Youngs, all probably 13:10s-13:20s guys. They'll need a fifth guy and they have 8:40s hs guys who will be very good in time.
Even if they had all five of those guys, the Youngs, plus Sprout, Robinson, and Hicks, they'd probably still lose when you look at what NAU already has, 13:06, 13:09, 13:22, 13:28, 13:34, 13:41, 13:42, plus Colin Sahlman, the national hs xc champ, and all of those guys are proven in xc. When Nur goes pro, that'll make it a contest.

Nur already went pro and Hicks has 2 more years of eligibility.
as a parent myself, i think the Young parents are thrilled. They must have been thinking for the last 2 y ears, "We let our Nico pick NAU over Stanford. Should have told him that was a mistake. Let's hope the twins realize it without us having to tell them....
You cna go pro for running from any school. But if you want a non-running job, the value of a Ivy or Stanford degree with worth a lot more than NAU.
You can’t beat the prestige of Stanford and optimal year round training weather. Also, since they’re rich they still get to spend their summers at altitude resort camp.

I doubt they thought that and they didn’t “let” Nico got to NAU.
I can't tell if I love or hate the video part. In some ways it feels way extra, but in others I'm sure it's cool to show this type of transparency in their process and thinking.
Got to UO. Run pro until your 35. Work for Nike. Realistically if any of these guys plan on chasing Olympic dreams the Stanford grad with no work experience outside of professional runner and the nau grad look the same 13 years post graduation.
do you think grant fisher has career waiting for him outside of running (I know he has impressive academic credentials). but not sure if those will be very meaningful a decade more after not practicing them.
the Stanford degree only matters for those that don’t make it as a runner. That probably won’t be the young’s (although they have increased their odds of failing to go pro dramatically by choosing stanfraud.)

Grant Fisher is actively working on his masters right now. I'm confident he will have a very successful career after he stops running. I'm actually worried it could pull him away from running too soon if he has a rocky year or two. The dude can easily make 6 figures elsewhere.

Trying to figure out remaining college eligibility (and who will actually use the Covid extra year) right now is nearly impossible. We pretty much have to just wait and see who is actually rostered every year.

Remember, we’re talking 2 years from now not next year. The only people left on NAU’s roster would be Nico & Bosley & Sahlman.
Meanwhile, Stanford would still have every single one of their major contributors because they are all sophomores or below.

Not Hastey? He only ran CC in 2020,2021, and 2019.

Some of you folks are on the verge of wanting to be virtual helicopter parents to kids that aren’t your children. Very strange indeed.
