It doesn't matter what his PB is in an event he rarely runs. He just a ran a 3:30 for 1500m, which is 1:52 pace through the 800m. Clearly he is capable of running a much faster 800m than either of the times mentioned above, but he doesn't need to.
Great run by hoare. Cannot wait for coffee club. Host of PB’s throughout the field. Amazing how much centro winning gold as guy what was prob 6-10th best guy has changed championships 1500 running - will prob last another 5 years till people forget!
Err, or super shoes have. Seriously, Centro was a lot faster than people give credit. He ran a 3:49 solo and well past his peak.
I suspect if he were 25 today (and wearing today's spikes), he'd be right up there with Hoare, Kerr, Wightman, etc.
Don't hate on HIM that the 2016 finals were so slow. He won. What the hell does he care?
"What the hell does he care?"
I bet it bothers him a bit. The time of that race was embarrassing.
Wightman went from British to Scottish in a fortnight.
With the Europeans starting in little more than a week's time I'm actually surprised so many British athletes with medal aspirations turned out in Birmingham.
Of course. For the Olympics there is a UK team, not separate teams for England, Scotland Wales and NI. So he is British for the Olympics. For the Commonwealth games, Scotland, Wales and NI all feature separate teams as members of the Commonwealth.
And let's not forget Guernsey, Isle of Man, etc. Guernsey 400h dude took bronze and "put Guernsey on the map."

I certainly wouldn't care. I'd look at my gold medal (hanging next to my world indoors gold and world outdoors silver and bronze medals) and look at all the hate on these boards and then laugh my ass off.

Yeah, the correct response is to rise above all the crap people post about him and just say "I can't hear you over the sound of all my medals clanging together." But his response to that kid who posted "your move" suggests stuff like that bothers him a little

I think Guernsey tries to keep itself off the map in the hope we don't realise how suspiciously close to France it is.
Have just been looking at the Wikipedia articles on recent Island Games. Disappointing lack of 'entering six events' from either of the Chalmers boys; not sure Alistair has even appeared.
Outstanding race. Hoare with perfect execution and great luck. His space opened at the perfect time and he capitalized. Half of the guys in the field could have won depending on how the pacing and tactics played out. Great drama!
Half the field would have had to run faster than 3:30.12.
Re luck, in my opinion, after Hoare got stuck in lane one before the bend, he did not panic and instead of running the bend wide, he waited until later in the bend and you will see that he didn't go over the lane line, and as he said afterwards, he held that line to stop anyone else doing likewise..then he went wider down straight as he accelerated.
He definitely learned from his mistakes at Worlds. Didn't jostle for position early on. Just sat in and got a nice tow around; saved as much as he could for the final straight.
Exactly. That was from his interview post worlds. Spent too much. In this race just tucked in and went late.
10 mins after his school mate (same year) fell over receiving the baton in the 4 x 100 heats.

Apparently Coe told him go for 3 x 1500 golds in the same year.

They have to do it out of patriotic pride. Once every four years the Scottish and Welsh get to represent their Celtic nation. That's why Wightman chose to run the 800m in the Europeans rather than here. If Wightman had run the 800 here and not medalled people would even question his Scottishness.
Fantastic run from Ollie Hoare. Him and Tim were both running on pure hate at the end there.
Great performances from Heyward and Giles. They only showed the top 6 times, but I assume Matthew Stonier must have had a massive pb as well. Wonder what happened to Josh Kerr?
Kerr is done. Probably also an age cheat, doping since age 8 and maybe in fact even a Kenyan? He will not win another big race.
I don’t know about the stupid accusations but Kerr needs better coaching and a better team. Watching the YouTube videos on the Brooks Beasts leading into Worlds just a depressing outfit run by an unqualified nincompoop.
Matthew Stonier ran 3.32.5 having started the season with a 3.39 PB. I don't have the slightest doubt that he's perfectly clean but if his name was followed by (ALG) or (MAR) would would people think?

Kerr was okay after the WC (5th place, 3:30.60) and Hoare was all done (failed to make finals).
