She simply developed a moms bod. To combat that takes extreme dietary discipline. To compete with best distance runners in the world takes obsession.
Not a fan of NOP but they knew that mom bods weren’t competing at that level and thus not making Nike money. It’s a cruel business but it is what it is. The woke think everything should be puppies and ice cream. She simply didn’t have the dietary discipline to deal with developing a mom bod. We all don’t get to have our 16 year old metabolism forever.
LRC Note: We deleted this post at one point but while offensive, we have put it back up as people are allowed to have offensive opinions. Our biggest problem with the post is the poster implies that everyone with proper dietary discipline can have a world-class distance running body, which isn't the case. And "dietary discipline" can very well be extremely dangerous eating habits that could cause long term damage.
lol that's a huge leap dude grow up. Instead of addressing her running issues they told her to lose weight.
Gaining/ not losing weight is a running issue.
I fully admit it’s a running issue I suffer from.
I think it’s more about Salazar. It’s very unlikely Schumacher would have pushed Cain to an unhealthy weight and berated her in front of her teammates. I’ve seen pictures of her when she was with OTC, where looked very thin, and she still wasn’t running well.

No, Schumacher would have made Shalane do it, thus avoiding the pitfalls of being a male coach coaching females. Everyone seems to dote over big sister Shalane, but she's stone cold.

No, he wouldn’t have. If she really had mom-bod, they would have written her off as a bad contract.
My question about the entire caIN, Salazar, nop thing is while she was going through all these issues where were the other females of the team/group? If this went on in front of the entire team why did not 1 of them step in to help her in some way? Yes what Alberto did was wrong but why do these other members of the team get a free pass? They should have helped her in some way and now should be called out about it
Men, I'd ask you to leave Mary alone. Most of us have Instagram and can see her posts/follow her if we want. We don't need (any more) threads about her.

Because they likely thought the same thing the arbitrator did in the SafeSport report that rejected Mary Cain's claims about being fat-shamed when it was ruled this was about sporting performance.
Salazar usually gets his athletes to run to the best of their ability. Sometimes your level is just your level.
Im sure she could have been trained in a more optimal way, but world class was never going to be in the cards.
She was in the World Championships when she was 17. So she already made it to "World Class", unfortunately it went downhill from there.
Junior world class. and she was going downhill regardless. if she was meant to be a star, she would have at least approached her former peak by now.
Everybody always wants an external reason for their problems. The first and biggest place you'll find answers is in what god and your parents gave you.
It is possible, and I'd say even likely, that Mary peaked as a teen and was never going to develop to be world class as an adult. That isn't an excuse to be treated like she was. Being berated in front of people for your weight or body is cruel, even if it is true.
Mary isn't all that likable in my opinion and makes a lot of excuses along with that asinine track club concept she has but being unlikable doesn't mean she was deserving of that cruelty of not only Salazar but every other athlete that stood by and said nothing.
