He was never going to make it as a WR for the Eagles. We have solid depth already: AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Quez Wadkins, Zach Pascal and yes, even Jalen Reagor (the first round bust).
Devon Allen's only shot to make the roster is on special teams as I have been saying for the last couple months. Our kick return and punt return guys have sucked over the last 3-4 years.

You missed Greg Ward, and I think he should start ahead of Watkins. Ward is solid, sticks with his route, gets open and catches the ball. Watkins is fast. Probably better football speed than Allen. Same with Reagor. Brown and Smith are automatically on the team. And the coach likes Pascal.
Allen signed a 3 year deal for $2.56 million, but only $40k is guaranteed. NFL contracts are not exactly as generous as NBA or MLB contracts. You sign those, you get the full figure you signed for. The Eagles's plan in signing him for three years is to likely have him do practice squad this year with the aim of getting him ready to play in 2023. You had to figure that after a six year layoff from football, multiple football injuries in college, and not very many catches (54)--though a gaudy yards per catch stat, it was going to be tough for him. He is not as fast as an Olympic 100m runner but 4.35 is legit top football speed, so that accounts for the flyer from the Eagles.
He's also basically a rookie, and he hasn't played in many years.
Last year, Ja'Marr Chase had a lot of bad drops in the preseason, but he had the best rookie WR season ever
Davante Adams had trouble with dropped passes his entire rookie year, a lot of Packer fans even thought he might (or should) be cut. Now he's one of the best in the league. Happens to a lot of guys, some figure it out.
Duh? Only Doyle and the parrots covering track for NBC, regurgitating then talking points think the will make the team. Any football article that mentions Allen, mentions his long shot to make the team. No excuses. It was good PR and perhaps motivation for him but there is no way he makes the team nor the practice squad. Every spot is valuable much less on a middling team like the Eagles.
Doesn't sound promising. One year out and back to the track. I wonder if he could try moving up to the 400. I don't see him being fast enough for the hurdles after the football training.
A “podcaster.” Is that like, you know, someone with a laptop that likes to talk?
I just don't understand the appeal of this kind of 'podcast.' A loudmouth sitting in front of a webcam spewing his garbage opinion. No video except his ugly mug talking and nothing to hear except ramblings that he's 100% sure are right.
Devon Allen has something to fall back on if NFL doesn’t work out. He is competing against people who don’t. In some respects less pressure, but hard to match that drive.

Devon Allen is in his first NFL training camp after spending the last five years focusing exclusively on track and field, coming in fourth in the 110-meter hurdles at last year’s Olympics and running the third-fastest time in...

There are several podcasters who have been long time Philly radio sports talk hosts. For example, Jody Mac has a great podcast (Birds 365 on YT), plus does a national radio show on weekends and worked for over 20 yrs on WIP sports radio in Philly.

Who is this "we" you speak of, kimosabe?
"we" as in long time Eagles fans. That's who. Expectations are high for the upcoming season. If Jalen Hurts improves his accuracy and gets the ball out quicker, we have another playoff run. If he sucks, we have 2 first round picks to grab one of the top 3 QB prospects in next year's draft. This upcoming draft is LOADED with QB talent.
Could hit your bye week at...5-1, looking at 12-5 as being pretty realistic, more 11-6 than 13-4 however.
I'm looking at 11-6. I'm still not sold on Hurts, yet. He has a lot to prove, if he can't step up this season, he's done as an Eagle. Howie gave Hurts a ton of new weapons.
