Wow, did you take me back!
Not the subject of this thread, and I don't want to hijack.
But back in the day, I ran literally everywhere you listed. Some awesome runs.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Checking and it looks like the last XC coach in that position earned a base salary of $62,830 and also received $17,532 on benefits.
I was injured the entire time, but I still train in LA and do the same routes - must have been the coaching because I have a career as a marathoner now

Guessing he got the same. That's less than he was earning teaching and coaching.
I’m excited to crush UCLA in every single race this year.

It will be interesting to see how Stone (3:47), Salcido (3:48), Wilbur (3:48)… progress this year.

UCLA is obviously a much better university than NAU. Not in same league.
I don’t see why the Youngs + Aaron would not go to UCLA.
Who is coaching NAU now?
Is Mike Smith not coaching it anymore ?

Isn’t Salcido the Jesuit HS two mile record holder (8:46). That’s pretty good talent.
Surprising that he only ran 3:48 this year.
Brosnan has talent to work with.

"I knew what (UCLA) paid for the coaching position in the past," he said. "They really stepped up (this time). I got what I asked for."
Sounds like he got a significant raise compared to the last coach.
Exceptional high school coach with some incredibly talented kids to develop.
But let's see how well the Newbury Park athletes do in the NCAA and beyond before we give this guy the ticker-tape parade...

I see that Salcido only ran one Cc race last fall. Does it mean he redshirted?
Ok

Great hire!
I called it a few days ago, although I had HLW to be included (reports said she declined), SB will bring in some new energy as well as tap into the west coast hot-bed of talent. I love the fact that UCLA didn't buy into the "Must have collegiate assistant coaching experience, blonde hair, female, blah, blah, blah Pig Sh^t policy that too many schools are going by. Sean has put together a solid nationally ranked high school program at NP that incorporates all of the necessary tools needed to build a strong distance program...ANYWHERE! He clearly has shown the ability to connect with young athletes and motivate them to be successful.
Good Luck!
How much do think he ll make. He ll lose his pension.
