That 126 speed rating is a red flag for a team that is competing for a top 3 spot.
That website has gone so far downhill its sad. I used to love going there, but the only thing that is readable is the results section of the forum.
Brebeuf held out a runner that was 192nd at state last fall. They are probably in a little better position than today's results show, but I would not want my fifth runner to be so far buried at the state meet.
Welp, Center Grove and Carmel are the 2 clear favorites to go to NXN with the transfers that they got.
6 of top 10 teams in the state go through the Shelbyville regional! That is going to be a barn-burner of a race later this fall!!
He ran a 10:25/4:44/2:01 in track. It will be interesting to see if he can close the gap on Legue.
Legue probably wasn’t healthy last track season. He barely did anything. His 800 time was much slower than Williams’s
Avon sneaky fast. Returning runners and good coaching

Here's my preseason top 20 individual predictions when it's all set and done at state with their 800, 1600, 3200 and XC 5K PBs for the guys (some are converted times), I feel like I valued the track season last spring too much but whoops. I will mention that there is news in the Indianapolis area that Carmel is officially getting a transfer from Minneapolis Minnesota area that is included in this list. This list would definitely not be the same in a month or so from now as breakouts happen, I already added people who I think will have breakout seasons this fall after the spring track season.
1 Kole Mathison - Carmel - 1:53, 4:04, 8:55, 14:23
2 Will Conway - Floyd Central - 2:03, 4:17, 8:56, 15:19
3 Ty Garrett - Center Grove - 1:58, 4:16, 9:03, 14:58
4 Ezra Burrell - Brebeuf Jesuit - 1:57, 4:12, 9:17, 15:41
5 Martin Barco - Martinsville - 1:57, 4:12, 16:54
6 Kyle Clark - Bloomington North - 1:56, 4:13, 9:42, 15:52
7 Cameron Todd - Brebeuf Jesuit - 1:57, 4:13, 9:17, 15:20
8 Matteo Rosio - Brebeuf Jesuit - 2:02, 4:25, 9:19, 15:20
9 Asher Propst - Noblesville - 4:20, 9:10, 15:49
10 Aidan Lord - New Albany - 1:57, 4:15, 9:20, 15:42
11 Parker Mimbela - Center Grove - 2:02, 4:31, 9:22, 15:23
12 Nate Killeen - North Central - 1:53, 4:16, 9:24, 15:34
13 Griffin Hennessy - Center Grove - 4:16, 9:39, 15:39
14 Matthew Helton - Zionsville - 1:59, 4:17, 9:26, 15:53
15 Tony Provenzano - Carmel - 2:04, 4:24, 9:16, 15:40
16 Brayden Henkle - Franklin Central - 1:56, 4:18, 9:19, 15:54
17 Jack Weber - Guerin Catholic - 2:00, 4:20, 9:45, 16:37
18 Nick Ostendorf - Lawrence North - 2:04, 4:20, 9:58, 16:39
19 Evan Long - Tipton - 4:20, 9:47, 16:24
20 Clayton Guthrie - Columbus North - 1:59, 4:20, 9:35, 15:39
I think there is only 6 teams that can contend for a top 5 team podium spots but 2 additional wild card teams who could add on to list.
The two title favorites as of now are absolutely Center Grove and Carmel. These two would've been favorites without each of their transfers but now the transfers definitely separate themselves from rest of teams in state. The only team other than these two who I can see winning it all is Brebeuf Jesuit if they can find a consistent 4-5 with their great top 3. Zionsville is a very good team with a lot of depth this fall so they are a team to watch too. Same goes for Fishers and Columbus North too as they have had great success and tradition over the years and both programs bring great pieces back this fall to be the favorites for the last podium spot.
The two wildcard teams who I believe have potential to podium come October are Noblesville and Franklin Central. Both teams have the firepower up front but have very young backends of their projected lineups and both are large schools with larger teams. If those young guys develop a lot this summer and throughout the season to blend in with their top 1-2 guys, Both these teams can absolutely challenge Columbus North and Fishers for the last podium spot. So my top 8 teams and podium threats are as of now if everyone was healthy.
1 Center Grove - Top 3 Lock, Title Favorite
2 Carmel - Top 3 Lock, Title Favorite
3 Brebeuf Jesuit - Podium Lock, Fringe Title Contender
4 Zionsville - Podium Lock
5 Columbus North - Podium Favorite
6 Fishers - Podium Favorite
7 Noblesville - Fringe Podium Contender
8 Franklin Central - Fringe Podium Contender
Even If Williams closes the gap on Legue, Brebeuf won’t beat Center Grove or Carmel with the transfers that they got
I'm assuming y'all know about IN CC Stats, right?
The 2023 preseason rankings are awesome to see.
Wouldn’t be surprising if Carmel wins in 2023 even after losing Mathison and some other seniors.
They will return a 9:38, a 9:16 transfer, and 5 more guys under 10:10. This makes it a very deep team. Great program too.

With the biggest in person high school in the country and rich parents it should be a great program. Indiana's one class system helps too by making it almost impossible for small/medium public schools to reach the top of the state.
Elkhart had 2 sophs go 16:15 and 16:41. They should find 3 more talented underclassmen up there so that they have a strong top 5 for the 2024 season
Apparently elkhart has another incoming soph who ran a 4:53 in the 1600. Not sure if he’s doing xc
Any of the top northside teams (Carmel, Fishers, Zionsville, Nobelsville) or Columbus North racing this week?

Carmel and Zionsville are racing the John Cleland invite tomorrow.
According to their schedule, Fishers is going to a meet in Brownsburg. I know CN went to that meet in the past, but it looks like CN's schedule is empty this weekend.
Noblesville guys I believe go to Huntington North this weekend, no clue if their top guys are racing or saving for next weekends county meet but will probably get the win if they run everyone tomorrow. I don't believe Carmel will run their top guys like Mathison, Provenzano or Leedke till the Hamilton County Meet next Saturday on the 27th that's with Noblesville and Fishers and other decently high ranked teams like HSE, Guerin Catholic and Westfield. Wouldn't be shocked if Zionsville ran all out tomorrow since they hosting the meet.
I am not sure how I feel about Indy's one class system for XC. I feel like if you do it for one sport, you should have to do it for all sports.
Then again, at least there is no undisputed champion in Indy like there would be in Ohio...
But then again, schools like Carmel going up against schools like South Adams is like Ohio State playing Walsh in football lol
