Murray’s 4-5 gap seems to be closing though
Worthington could be really good in 2 years too.
Their nonsenior group is lead by 2 sophomores, a freshman and an 8th grader.
Becker beats Monticello again even without Ricker this time. Both teams have a large 4-5 gap. Wouldn’t be surprised if Becker beats them out at sections for state.
Looks like 2 Becker freshmen are approaching one of their top senior teammates too, so that’s really good.
Becker has a nice freshman trio:
17:21
17:26
18:05
actually, accidentally looked at the team results from a different race.
boys varsity race:
Monticello - 118
Becker - 177
As for how he will develop, he will likely be one the best in the state as a senior. But a state championship?
No guarantees. Probably no guarantees for all-state either.
Mitchell Grand was an insane 6th grader who would have made Hutchinson’s varsity if allowed, and scored well for them in 7th grade. But senior year he couldn’t make state as an individual. He seems to be doing fine at Sju though
Elliott McArthur used to be the best 8th and 9th grader in the state when he went to NXN but this time he can’t keep up with Breker/Gilles/Scott and if he wants to go to NXN he and his team will have to put a team together that can do it.
The course that worthington ran on seems to be short looking at all the competitors times. Neverless impressive run by them.
I would strongly suggest the Worthington course was short. Looking at the team stats, this was there 3rd 5km in 6 days - and most ran 30+ sec PR's. What is so hard about making a course accurate.
Regardless of the results here, I don’t think Worthington will win state this year if they don’t find a #5.
Big Lake and Mankato East seem like the best 2 teams in AA.
Highland Park could win it too if their 4/5 step up. One of their guys (Georgeson) who is their #4 was the fastest freshman on the team in 2019. So I expected him to at least keep up with Martin/Isom/Roberts this year. If that happens and they find #5 they should be able to win it by putting 5 guys in front of Big Lake’s #4.
Another thing that might hurt highland park is that they lack a front runner, just like Rosemount.
Como Park seems to have finished close behind highland park.
HP will be racing tomorrow at the Metro invite.
Noah Breker is on the bib list for tomorrow....I can't wait to see the race. On the girls' side, Wayzata's Abbey Nechanicky should cruise to the win. HP's Luna Scorzelli & Chanhassen's Marissa Long will be dueling for the 2nd and 3rd spots, I would guess.
I don't think it's hard, I think it is intentional. Gets your team ranked higher when you plug numbers into mile split.
Course was not the same. definitely shorter if you look at everyone’s times
On the girls side, it’s looking to be a tight battle between Forest lake, Duluth East and centennial.
Section 8AAA preview meet.
The name says it all. It’s a preview of the 8aaa meet.
Buffalo boys crushed it, which is exactly what’s looking to happen at sections of everything goes well for their fab 5.
Bemidji was missing possibly their #1 guy, Maish. Their chances of qualifying are vulnerable if he doesn’t return. 2 other teams from their section (that aren’t Buffalo) beat them.

Moorhead and STMA are really young this year and both have a chance to make state next year after Buffalo loses 3 scorers. Maybe both could make it at the same time next year.
Applejack times were actually adjusted
Wait..Andrew Casey actually beat Sam Scott
Woodbury was missing their top freshman Colton Christenson who ran a 16:47 last year.
White Bear needs to close the 4-5 gap to beat them at sections
Prior lake had only 2 finishers in the varsity race and neither of them was Hage or Simmonds.
I’m confused as to why PL didn’t run more guys on their varsity, particularly Gannon and Tuschen who actually took part in the sections race last year.
Maybe they wanted to have a better JV race result? Might as well run everyone in the JV race then if Hootie or Simmonds weren’t going to race
Metro invite:
Highland park girls not all that far behind Wayzata. I think these are the 2 teams most likely to go to NXN this year.
Nechanicky dominates
Roseville boys starting to put pieces together. Solid 1-6 not just 1-5. Pretty close to being top 10 in the state.
Wayzata’s Weber was missing but next year they bring everyone back except Mohamed. Mohamed was second to Breker but way ahead of all his teammates and should be top 10 in the state now. He was very close to getting top 10 at TCRC showcase in 2020.
Last year Wayzata had no front runner but this year they seem to have one.
Edina boys team had their 1 and 2 missing
Boys AAA rankings
Teams
1. Lakeville north
2. Wayzata
3. Minnetonka
4. Minneapolis Southwest
5. Minneapolis Washburn
6. Rosemount
7. Mounds View
8. Eden Prairie
9. Stillwater
10. Edina
Washburn and Southwest seem similar and I can see either team go to state.
Edina was missing their 1/2 from the heartland classic but their 4/5 are better than Armstrong’s 4th.
Indviduals
1. Noah Breker
2. Nick Gilles
3. Andrew Casey
4. Sam Scott
5. Aidan Jones
6. Elliott McArthur
7. Adam Lueth
8. Nolan Sutter
9. Hootie Hage
10. Hamza Mohamed
