MN Cross Country Predictions 2022

All conference picks for South Suburban
1- Andrew Casey. Lakeville North. Can keep up with some of the best runners in the state.
2- Hootie Hage. Prior Lake. In all honesty, I don’t think he will go back-to-back. Casey is just on a whole another level now. But he does have capability of beating out rest of the field based on his performances.
3- Bryce Stachewicz. Lakeville North. He is more of a 800/1600 kind of guy in the spring, but at Griak he showed that his shorter distance performances are translating to 5K results.
4- Will Harder. Rosemount. Every Rosemount scoring senior has been their #1 at least once this season. But this time that spot will go back to him. It did at Ev Berg where he finished just behind Stachewicz.
5- Ryan Mulrooney. Rosemount. Was close to Harder at Ev Berg.
6- Ethan Starfield. Lakeville South. Even though he beat Harder and Mulrooney at Griak, I am putting him behind them since the 2 Rosemount guys have improved and Starfield lost to a guy from Perham pretty handily.
7- Ethan Kimmel. Lakeville North. Was close behind Mulrooney at Ev Berg.
8- Niko Angell. Lakeville North. Finished right behind Kimmel at Griak. Will try to bounce back from a subpar Ev Berg placement to help win a conference title.
9- Joe McNeil. Rosemount. This 3200 state qualifier moved up a spot up on the team at Ev Berg. This is showing that his track abilities are translating into XC. So I think he will move up another spot on the team.
10- George Edgar. Rosemount. 7th at Ev Berg
11- Andrew Schultz. Rosemount. 11th at Ev Berg
12- Matt Hendricks. Lakeville North. This is where I will have him for now, but if North really wants a state team title, then he and Angell have to close the gap on Kimmel at state.
13- Aidan Jakubic. Lakeville South. First year of XC (after doing track last season) and is already making a name for himself in the sport, upgrading the talent level of his team, and continuing to improve. He beat Altergott, teammate Johnson, and Crisp the last 3 meets.
14- Chase Altergott. Lakeville North. Emerged as the team’s 6th man which will help at state and NXR in case one of the team’s scorers falters.
15- Andrew Crisp. Farmington. Another guy new to the sport after doing track, and is already making a name for himself. Emerged as the #1 guy on the team. Looking to make all-conference and could qualify as an individual for state based on his success and progression.
16- Mason Sullivan. Farmington. Was right behind Crisp last meet. Was all-conference last year and is looking to repeat that this year.
17- Owen Johnson. Lakeville South. Ran a 16:47 in his first race, and should be able to earn an all-conference spot. Times were not as fast as Crisp’s / Sullivan’s at Griak
18- Ben Buckley. Eastview. Beat all of the Shakopee guys last meet.
19- Quinn Froats. Shakopee. Became the team’s #1 guy last meet after being only their #4 the meet before (when they were slightly lost to Farmington)
20- Kyle Messner. Shakopee. Spent all season being Shakopee’s #1 or 2, except in the last race. I think he can bounce back from it.

Haven’t seen anything yet.

What about Breker? Seems like he’s the only top guy who hasn’t chosen a college yet.

Usually people decide in November or December

According to Breker’s instagram- he has it narrowed down to 6 schools. As the clear #1 runner in the state, he is taking is time and weighing all options. Minnesota, Oklahoma St, Tennessee, Colorado, Iowa State and North Carolina are his final 6.

Tonka girls close to Wayzata at mile 1. Mor is back. Edina far behind even with the transfer from Tonka in 3rd (#1 on the team)

Minnetonka girls only lost to Wayzata by 20 points. Do you guys think both teams can go to NXN this year?
Can Tonka take down that Olathe West school from Kansas?

Griak: Wayzata - 113, Olathe West - 142
Conference: Wayzata - 29, Minnetonka - 49.
Minnetonka didn’t race at Griak but was closer to Wayzata than Olathe West was.

Bigger meet might make the margin between Wayzata and Minnetonka bigger. We will see how it plays out at state, and what the margin between Wayzata and Minnetonka will be like.

Buffalo finishing 4th was a surprise. 20 points behind EPHS.
Thought they would finish near the bottom.
Edina had some glaring absences. More than just Defor.
EP was missing Bakken, but they put 7 under 17. And 5 of them will be back next year.
