Stillwater had a nice top 5 at dick Mitchell, putting all of their 5 guys under 16:50.
Eden Prairie had a race yesterday, putting 4 guys between 16:32 and 16:35, but their 5th guy was ways back. 17:02.
Doolittle (state individual qualifier last year but no track results) is back on varsity so that’s good. Maybe he will close the gap. They also have Derouin (probably related to EP alum/CU runner Jake) who was their #2 and ran a 16:33 at Bauman Rovn but he took a step back so maybe he is sick or injured. Another guy that could close the 4-5 gap when championship season (conference/sections/state/NXR) comes.
But last meet Stillwater had a better 5K average than EP, and EP’s 4-5 gap was large and Stillwater’s wasn’t. Also EP continues to show that they lack a front runner. So I am putting Stillwater in front of EP in the rankings. Stillwater’s front runner has been pretty much intact on the team. His brother got 3rd at the TCRC showcase.
Adjusted rankings boys AAA team rankings:
1. Lakeville North
2. Wayzata
3. Rosemount
4. Minnetonka
5. Mounds View
6. MPLS Washburn
7. MPLS Southwest
8. Stillwater
9. Eden Prairie
10. Bloomington Jefferson
Edina probably would have beaten Jefferson if Defor (their #2) raced (he probably would have been up there with Haerter like last year at Griak) but he only ran one race (at Bauman Rovn, unattached) so we don’t know what’s the situation or his health status. I’m keeping them out of these rankings until Defor returns. I don’t see them beating Minnetonka or EP for state anyways (especially if EP closes the gap. As I mentioned before, there are 2 people capable of doing that). One of the teams I do have in the top 10 won’t be racing at state because 3 of those teams are in 6AAA.
