Comm games has female marathon field of????

    yeah as a Canadian growing up, the Commonwealth Games were really a thing-Edmonton hosted them in '78, and it was the next biggest thing to the Olympics...now though with the wane of the British Empire and having Worlds every 2 years (1st worlds weren't until 1983) dilutes the competition for track and field. Along with having Pan Pacifics/Worlds for swimming, can't blame athletes for prioritizing those instead-still a solid competition but definitely not what it used to be! At least they won't have the fate of the GoodWill games lol!

    I don't even associate the Comm Games with the royals and many of the Commonwealth countries are republics so a change in monarch is meaningless to them.

    The thing about Worlds and Pan Pacs in swimming is they have very little reach outside the swimming community so Comm Games are much better for sponsors at least in Australia.

    The marathon was always going to be a difficult event to fill. You have the quota system which limits overall team size across all sports. Then there are the competing championships and the fact that a lot of competitions will also want to run a WMM later in the year for a payday. The competition on the track should be much better

Birmingham loves a free event and they love to get behind people and support them. They also love sport. So people turned out to watch and cheer the athletes.

    Thanks Biden! Oh wait, this wasn't in the US. Oh well, I guess we can only blame Biden for what happens within US borders even if the same things are happening all over the world. Or should we blame him for that too?

    it looks like there will be really stacked fields in this years games.a lot of countries are sending bigger track and field teams than is usual.theres no asian games this year,so more asian athletes will be competing plus more africans as well.
