Why are Flanagan and Schumacher even in the sport, still? Isn’t a known (and ongoing, evidently) association with a doping athlete grounds for unanimous sanction from the NCAA, USAT&F and University of Oregon? How are they still coaching?
My point was about her replacement. The problem is that “the best person” is a metric that has been suppressed because of the limited lack of opportunities to gain experience that are afforded to women and people of color.
As a well-known TV character once said "it's a dog-eat-dog world, and I'm wearing milkbone underwear".
No one should ever feel entitled to any job...PERIOD...regardless of their sex, orientation, or any other so-called characteristic. PERIOD. END OF TRANSMISSION.
Exactly. So why have white men given themselves preferential treatment for centuries and excluded others?
Exactly. So why have African tribal leaders given themselves preferential treatment over common tribal members both men and women for centuries?
If you can answer this, than you should be able to answer the question you posed.
Can we just talk about Lehman-Winters as a coach? She certainly had a great reputation and great results at USF. What happened at Oregon? Year 1 she did well, but inherited a strong team. She did a good job with Hull and Baez, no? What was the problem with US recruiting? I’m genuinely interested in why things did not live up to expectations if that is the correct interpretation? What was the lesion?
Well, liberals feel there is a quota on sex and race, regardless if the candidates are less qualified than their counterparts that might be male or caucasian (God forbid a caucasian male might be the most qualified candidate applying). You're better off being black and scoring 1300 on the SAT, then being Asian and scoring 1550. That is racism against all non black applicants. Very backwards world we are currently living in that race is a crutch for inferior applicants based on objective metrics.
Agreed. Helen had proven herself well before arriving at Oregon and well before USF and well before UCLA. Did you know she coached a Footlocker Champion too? Something didn't line up in the new environment. We don't know what we don't know. We should be giving her the benefit of the doubt.
100% right. Yes, I knew her as an east bay HS coach, and she was the gold standard for excellence. Sometimes it’s the institution that lets down the employee or it’s a no fault situation and just not a great fit. I’m not in the business of hiring coaches, but if I was, she’d be at the top of the list unless I hear about some concrete issues not previously disclosed.

yup, she's legit. Will be successful in her next job.
