Here is the result with the best 400 m times of the protagonists.
1. Korir 1:43.71 (44.21/2018)
2. Sedjati 1:44.14 (47.2/2022)
3. Arop 1:44.28 (46.10/2022)
4. Wanyoni 1:44.54 (no 400 listed) (3:43.19/1500-2022, Nairobi), 17 years young!
5. Moula 1:44.85 (45.96/2018 + 21.40/200 in 2019)
6. Tual 1:45.49 (47.79/2022)
7. Bol 1:45.51 (47.20/2016)
8. Kisasy 1:47.07 (46.55/2021)
As we can see from the above the winner has that significant cushion with regard to basic speed over 400 m although some people would consider that to be taken with a grain of salt because for example some of those people listed above might be worth better over 400 had they had more opportunities to run more over that distance but the basic fact remains that Korir has the superior speed and cushion. Go through the first lap in 49 seconds or 50 seconds and in theory the winner (Korir), should not have a problem compared with the others who are closer to their TopSpeed (sustainable over two laps). People obsess over the winner’s weird head bobbing but that detail alone does not impede his overall athletic worth. Korir is a wonderful champion.
