I knew she wouldn't try a brand new stride pattern in a world championship final.
But you can tell the way she had to adjust her stride going into hurdle 8 that she is definitely capable of doing 14 steps at least until hurdle 8. The problem then becomes can she do 14 steps all the way to hurdle 9 which gets her back to her favored right lead leg?
Or can she only do 14 steps to hurdle 8? Which means she would have to lead with her non-favored left leg the rest of the way.
She might actually prefer to do 14 steps only to hurdle 7, than to try and stretch it to hurdle 9. 400 hurdlers are REALLY tired by hurdle 9.
You have to feel bad for Femke Bol. She will finish her career as the second best 400mH in history ... and it is doubtful that she will even have a single gold medal.
Sydney may switch to other events like the 400 or 200 or 100h.
Also, Sydney probably won't be running track in her 30's. She will move to other things.
So if Bol can stay motivated like Muhammad has been doing, Bol will eventually have a shot at a 400h gold medal.
a little muscle and some training and she could break the war in the a little muscle and some training for specific events and she could possibly be the one to break Jackie’s Hepthalon record

Who are you saying can break the heptathlon record? Sydney or Femke Bol?
Lashinda was also the HSR holder over 300m hurdles.
Marion Jones was a big effing star in HS, too.
Try again. Jones disappeared into the wilderness in North Carolina, never *really* ran track there, broke some major bones a couple of times, adjusted some blocks and improved some form at the behest of a giant teddybear named the late CJ Hunter, and voila, she was off on the path and lifestyle that led her to lie to Federal Investigators.
Demus? You'll need to insert more coins and create some fabrications somewhere to match Jones.
2nd best? Bol is yet to break 52s. Muhammad has won a bunch of Olympic and world medals, broke the world record twice and her PB is 51.58, second fastest woman of all time and she’s not done yet. She still got on the podium while nursing an injury.
To put it in perspective:
At age 22, Dalilah Muhammad had a 400mH best of 56.19 placed 5th an NCAAs and 20th at the Olympic Trials.
At age 22, Femke Bol has a best of 52.03, has run under 53 eight times, and has WC silver and Olympic bronze medals.
When Bol walks away from the sport, her achievements will dwarf everything Muhammad did. Muhammad will be the third best ever but it will still be a big gap to Bol level, and another gap to McLaughlin level.
sp2 wrote: JFC, that was unearthly. 3 years ago, when guys here were arguing about whether she'd end up breaking 53, I was quite sure she'd end up way under 52, but THIS,... THIS is just absurd.
Now, you could probably make it close to even money she might eventually crack 50-flat, if she wants to keep pushing it for a few more years. I would not have thought that was possible.
Did anybody catch her full stride-pattern? Did she go 14 through 7, and 15 through 10?
(If so, I'm assuming that's probably the first time we've seen that?)
Freaking unbelievable. PLEASE put her on the Goddamn relay. It'd be SO much fun to watch her race Shaunae and Paulino.
I came back this morning looking for this post. I just rewatched on YouTube and counted.
Yes, Sydney 14-stepped through hurdle 7!!!, and 15-stepped the final 3 gaps.
She usually goes to 15 after hurdle 5, keeping her on a right lead leg run, but she cleared 6 with the left, then all the rest with the right.
She did have to make a bit of an extended stride leading into hurdle 10 to make it in 15 (you could see she was hurting by then).
She had already established a solid lead at 5 over Dalilah, which is amazing in its own right, and then was moving so fast she 14-stepped the next two hurdles. She absolutely obliterated that final curve. Just amazing.
