Could someone provide a backstory as to why she is running for Kazakhstan? Did she keep missing out on Kenyan teams? It was strange she had no Kazakhstan flag or anyone to celebrate. Kind of sad actually.
Oil/gas money. Bahrain, Qatar, Turkey and now Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, identify athletes from a young age then offer them a ton of money to represent their countries. Both Norah Jeruto and Winifred Yavi continue to live and train in Kenya. They don't speak the languages or even own homes in their new countries.
The US does something similar but instead of money, offers citizenship through its army WCAP program. But at least the Kenyans who represent the US actually live there.
Bryce Hoppel is thru to the semis according to his Insta story!
I don't understand this. I know he got pushed, and quite heavily and he almost fell. But he didn't and it was early in the race (around 250?), so doesn't it get "forgotten" at some point. How long do you get to complain it mattered? I don't think he would have placed any higher if it had not happened.
What is the standard? Someone shoves you hard enough and you're on to the next round?
aside from a few BTC athletes (Jager, Fisher) most US distance athletes in this tourny just look soft, slow and out of it. How is 2022 Coburn going to compete with these girls 20kg lighter than her.
I doubt she is racing anyone who weight 75lbs.... Maybe being 3-5" shorter is a plus but I have a feeling it is more the Ethiopians/kenyans being short than being short being an advantage is why we see that. Last time I checked the average height of the kenyans runners was right in line with the general population of Kenya.

Don't forget the "unrest" from last January. The rancid-schmaltz odor of a move straight out of the NeoCon Playbook. Russia put the kibosh on that sh*t right quick.
The 2022 Kazakh unrest, also known as Bloody January (Kazakh: Қанды қаңтар, romanized: Qandy qañtar) or the January tragedy (Kazakh: Қаңтар трагедиясы, romanized: Qañtar tragediasy), was a series of mass protests that began i...

This thread headline needs to be edited. Clearly, Eugene is NOT the track capitol of the world, the US, or even the state. Perhaps that is why the World Athletics website:
has to call this: " World Athletics Championships Oregon 2022"
I am not aware of any other past IAAF/WA World Championship that is designated as something other than the host city. Perhaps Eugene was too small to find on people's google maps.
