Many including the MB mods claim that Al never particilated in any athlete breaking any rule. That's often an accurate claim - it may or may not be here. Shelbo may have found the juice without Jerry knowing anything. There has been discussion about the 'cleanliness' of runners Canova has coached, but realize that these guys have ways to snoop around and get ahold of stuff without Renato's participation or knowledge.
However, coaches and mentors have been implicated in some cases. The syringes in the hotel room at the training camp in Spain has already been mentioned in the thread.
If you claim absolutely that:
although it's possible Salazar-associated athletes may have broken rules, Al had nothing to do with obtaining nor using the drugs,
you must believe one of 2 things.
The hollowed out book never existed, and certainly wasn't mailed to Park City.
Or,
It did and was, but whatever was hidden in the cut-out wasn't against any USATF, USADA, IAAF, or WADA rules.
I come down on the 'it's all very suspicious' side of things and suggest that it's following Rupp around forever.
Yes there are. Those times aren’t that incongruous. Not perfectly in sync, but not totally out of wack.
I’d submit the 10,000 record of 26:11 is a better record than 2:01:39.
I just made up this chart, but nothing in it looks totally ridiculous.
26:10 = 2:00:30
26:20 = 2:01:00
26:30 = 2:01:30
26:40 = 2:02:00
26:50 = 2:02:30
27:00 = 2:03:00
27:10 = 2:03:30
27:20 = 2:04:00
27:30 = 2:04:30
27:40 = 2:05:00
27:50 = 2:05:30
28:00 = 2:06:00
Since you said you made it up, I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make with your chart. 28:00 is 4:30 per mile and it’s not possible possible for someone to run a pace only 18 seconds per mile slower for the marathon which is what it would take for a 2:06. Elite marathoners slow down by about 25 seconds per mile and only 18 would be like a 29:00 guy running 2:10.
Nobody is any stronger than Rodgers, who was a 28:00 runner, and he could have never run 2:06.

Thank your for this post. Of course there are so many combinations which can go together but your post is interesting. It also makes one wonder what Galen could have run for the marathon in his absolute prime. Or Kenenisa for that matter.
Or do go the records are the same and 28 mins is more like 2:07. I would argue both are week compared to the 5k.
In their prime KB and Galen would have been slower since super shoes weren't around.😁 But I have to imagine a healthy KB at like 31 with super shoes had to be a min faster than the 38 year version. Now I would love to know what prime hall runs in super shoes or if they would have let Ritz run 26 miles without cramping. It is just so hard to compare times across eras.
