Looks like Baloga and Macchia aren’t entered either I think that Sarah Lawson and Kate Putman would be good ones to add to this list as well as Erin Boler
Furman isn't running NXR and Bowdoin seems to be Green's achilles heel, since the past three times he raced there he hasn't gone under 17. Imo both FM guys make it + Holden Betts and Haynia. Last spot is a tossup between Talarico, Perazzo and McMahon.
This is assuming Corning and Monroe Woodbury are the teams going to nationals. If St. Anthony's rallies then Gilstrap would definitely have that 5th spot.
I think that McMahon will beat both Talarico / Parezzo. he was ranked first before the season started. He barely lost to Parezzo at Feds, but McMahon seems to be coming back. Talarico beat McGinn but not Otis at state.
I think the better prediction would be
Solomon Holden-Betts
Maximus Haynia
Anthony Otis
Peter McMahon
Joseph Perazzo
Gilstrap will qualify if Monroe Woodbury doesn’t make it
Looking at the Champs cross country regional (AKA Footlocker and Eastbay) both Collin Gilstrap and Catherwood are signed up there aswell. But it would be logical if they were to run with their team at NXRNY
I feel Saratoga tends not to do all that well on courses outside of Section 2. Pretty much everyone on Saratoga's team has had an off day in one of the past two races. They're also just better at track, considering their 4x8 went below 8 at states last spring but their cross country team in 2021 came in 5th at Suburbans. Talarico/the Saratoga team might also just be burnt out. They have also historically peaked too early.
Yeah it doesn’t really matter because I don’t see their boys team qualifying anyways. The winner is looking to be Corning. Second spot will go to Monroe Woodbury or St Anthony’s
Not doing well on non-Sec2 courses and peaking too early don’t bode well for their chances of ever stabbing at an NXN spot. It’s just that, although it’s not as strong of a region as others, there’s so much competition in this region nowadays on the team side. For next few years there will be many teams in the mix for making NXN
He had threatened that back in 2015 or 2016, when his guys didn't run well at Sectionals and lost to Liverpool.
That would not surprise me
they finished so low those years at NXN
They finished very low in 2016 with 3 seniors on varsity
And in 2017 they only had 2 seniors. Not just on varsity but in the boys program as a whole. All that and then they got second at NXN. Transfer Howles and freshman Geehrer were their saving grace
in 2018 Howles had a bad race at NXN, but another freshman Yakob Kelley was a saving grace and scored for them
FM has two competitive guys. Their #3 is running as fast as he ever has, and is behind the #5 guys of MW, St. A's, and Corning. Their 4-5 guys are running in the 130s, when they're running. Winning Sectionals will be a good result for them.
