I heard a rumor that rounds had a really bad case of covid during indoor, he missed several meets and didn’t pr in any track events. windecker also did better than him in the 32
They actually return Bush, A. Hart, and S. Wheeler who were all in the top 10 at the Class A state race. Then they have Belisle who ran 4:39/10:04 and M. Wheeler who ran 4:57 mile/9:49 3k so they have a solid top 5. M. Miller, Berglund, and K. Turner will likely battle for the last 2 varsity spots.
3 of their top 5 (Hart/Bush/Belisle) are coming back next year. They also have an incoming 8th grader who ran a 5:05 in the 1500. If she steps up and they find another solid runner up there they will be the best team in the country for the 5th year in a row.

I actually meant that Hart/Belisle/Bush are going to be back for the 2023 season. The Wheeler twins will be in college at that time. They will need 2 more to step up for that year
Behind Corning, I think the best prediction for a boys team that will take second at NXR is FM.
They return their top 3 (McGinn/Otis/Perry) and they just need 4/5. They always seem to have people come out of nowhere.
in 2017, FM took second at NXN after losing 3 seniors and only adding one transfer.
And in 2015 they still won NXR even after losing almost their whole varsity team. New York is weak this year apart from Corning, and FM is gonna take advantage of that especially when you look at what they return
Also, FM has had unheard-of freshmen score for them, like Peyton Geehrer scoring at the Salt City Athletic Conference XC Championships 2017. I don’t think he’s ever done any running before freshman year

Saratoga is slept on in yet another ranking. Embarrassing. Should be top 5 did no one look at both the XC times and the track times of the returners? And how small the senior class was?

Sophomore Thomas Kotkoskie went from no XC or track results except for a 3:06 1k, to a 17:59 and top finish on the team. Nice! He will be a huge asset to the team for the next few years.

Really hard to get any info from this because of the size of the meet and weird, weird format. That said, the only guy in the 2-mile race that finished within a minute of the Corning boys is a 4:38/10:04 guy. In the 1-mile race there were a couple kids from Delhi that have run in the 140-150 range that finished within 15 seconds of Corning's 5-6. Hard to say what that means, except that they are still absolutely untouchable in Section 4.
