Has the Salazar Effect finally worn off?
Has the Salazar Effect finally worn off?
She'll be fine
controversial statement: no medals for hassan in Eugene. I’ll even go so far to say that she’ll scratch her second event. I just don’t have a good feeling.
If true, any details of her first workout from yesterday?
The fact that so many people on here believe that her recoveries last year at worlds between each performance in such a short period of time were done without PEDs is truly astounding. She has cycled off the PEDs. Any human being with a rational point of view knows that what she did last year defies basic concepts of physiology. She destroyed fresh athletes in the 5K and 10K when she was doing a triple with multiple rounds of the 1,500. She still got up after being tripped in a heat of the 1500 to make a mockery of drug testing even moreso by sprinting and winning that heat from way behind in the middle of that triple as well.
How is this evidence of "liberal delusion"? Trump lost fair and square. Get used to it. And Sifan Hassan may or may not be doping--probably is--but there is no way that she is only capable of 15:14 at this time of year unless she has COVID or just got over it.
I think I may be the world’s #1 Hassan fan. When I’m feeling depressed I watch some of her epic races on you tube to cheer me up. I watched her run yesterday and she simply did not look close to being competitive for a medal at the WC this month in any event. Yes, she’s gained weight. I’m not sure if that is relevant or not. More, she just looked labored and without spring or bounce even off a very slow pace last evening. The Hassan who ran a 60 in her last lap of the 1500 heat in Tokyo after falling was not running yesterday. Honestly, I don’t think it matters what her workout was earlier in the day. What exactly was the point of last night’s run anyway? If Hassan expected to go out and jog a 14:45, well that did not happen. I’m thinking she might have expected to run much faster (72-3 per lap) and could not and now she may scratch from the wc. She’s such a gamer, maybe she doesn’t care, but based on what she looked like last night, it’s looking bad for Eugene if she competes.
No hate to hassan, amazing runner. The whole race the announcers were saying how easy this was for her and that it was part of a workout probably but man it did not look easy. People defend her saying she never looks great but I think she would have struggled to break 15 today.
She obviously took some time off and chose a super small meet to see where she was at. I do not think this was part of a workout lol
Based on this performance, you think she’ll scratch this week from worlds? She looked like she’d have had a hard time beating Tuohy last night. How’s she going to compete with Taye or Seyaum or Gidey?

She's obviously a PED user. Guaranteed. Easy to avoid getting caught.
Have Salazar's epo and PEDS worn off at long last ?
Hassan a big doper 😂😂😂😂
What an embarrassment. Sifan is a good athlete, but she is not an all time great (Legends don’t get satisfied after little success). After getting an olympic medal, good athletes usually disappear (But Legends will continue to dominate the sport, until they are physically worn out)
Success at the olympics is, the worst enemy of good athletes. Hassan disappointed me, I thought she was an all time great athlete (unfortunately, i was wrong)
And finally, I never liked her new coach, tim rowberry, he is not a coach material . Sifan gained about 20 pounds of weight on his watch. Trust me, Alberto Salazar wouldn’t have let this happen
Wow, this is a dumb opinion. She’s won double gold at the last two outdoor global championships. In 2019 she pulled off an unprecedented double and in 2021 she went for an unheard of triple. This is a person who is satisfied after “a little success?” No, she’s a legend and an all time great already even if she never runs another competitive race. Just because she’s out of shape now, does not mean that’s true, btw. She’s human, been through a lot of personal adversity, and has prevailed. She may well be the personally grittiest T&F star we have ever seen.
I'm not sure why anyone thinks Sifan Hassan would want to blast a 5k one week before Worlds where she's signed up for 3 events again. Why tire yourself out for a race that doesn't matter so close to a major championship? If you think yesterday's 5k is a true measure of her fitness, you need to find some common sense.
Hassan isn’t naturally extremely thin. She used to weigh a lot more. She’s clearly ruthlessly motivated and took a ton of weight off, so it’s not a surprise that after time off and an injury she would gain weight, and honestly, that’s probably good for her longevity. Staying at a low weight for too long would lead to an injury cycle, illness, and deteriorating running. This year is likely a write off and she just doesn’t have enough time left to get back, but it’s not shocking or strange that she would gain after time away closer to her natural weight.
I would think the fact that the Olympics had such a serious physical and psychological toll on her is actually in her credibility favor in terms of showing it wasn’t easy and she’s not superhuman. It f****d her up.
Maybe it's just a set-up?
Look tired a week before so your opponents dismiss you?
This is all true for sure. What’s hard to figure out is why is she bothering to compete at all this season based on how she looked yesterday? Nobody would say much if she was shut down 100%. Well, maybe Nike cares? Unfairly, when she competes at far less than her 100% it opens her up to all sorts of criticisms, more than if she simply did not run. My impression is that Hassan gives less of a f about what others think then most professional athletes and that’s one of her virtues.

Hassan’s mom flew her out of Ethiopia as a teenager to go make her own way as a refugee in a completely new country, language, culture. God knows what she was fleeing, what trauma she’s been through and what will she has had to draw on to survive and succeed. I think she’s just insanely driven in a way regular people growing up in the US can’t imagine and doesn’t want to not give it a shot. She probably doesn’t know how to chill it out.
